BBNBA Roundup: Big nights for Alex Poythress and Tyler Ulis

@sixersnewsfeed

@sixersnewsfeed

Last night was a big one for several former Cats, namely Alex Poythress and Tyler Ulis. Yesterday, Poythress signed with the Philadelphia 76ers and turned some heads in his debut, putting up 11 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 blocked shot in 24 minutes of play. That’s where we’ll start today’s BBNBA roundup…

Alex Poythress got his first NBA points in style off this classic Alex slam:

76ers coach Brett Brown raved about Alex’s debut after the game.

“I loved him. He had a bounce, he had a toughness — when you talk about those three cornerstones of the program: can you run, can you shoot threes, can you guard? I think he checks boxes,” Brown said. “How well? We’ll learn more about [him], but on first observation, looking at him come on the floor — and it wasn’t like he played four minutes, he played 24 minutes — it was enough body of work for me to say he had a tremendous bounce and certainly took advantage of his first time in a 76ers uniform.”

Well done, Alex. Here are complete highlights:

With Eric Bledsoe and Brandon Knight sitting out, Tyler Ulis got the start last night for the Suns and delivered, putting up a career-high 34 points, 9 rebounds, and 9 assists. Do yourself a favor and check out the complete highlight reel below:

Over the past 11 games, Ulis is averaging 14.8 points, 9.1 assists, and 3.9 rebounds, which doesn’t surprise Suns coach Earl Watson.

“I knew Tyler could be special quickly,” Watson said. “If you watched his play in summer league, he showed flashes. An amazing game at his size and as a rookie point guard, that’s great numbers.”

As you would expect, Devin Booker was thrilled for his best friend.

“It was unbelievable,” Devin Booker said. “It was good to see. He’s getting a chance to play, getting an opportunity to play and taking full advantage of it. With that being one of my closest friends and teammates, I’m just happy to see him succeeding out there.”

Rondo almost had a triple double for the Bulls last night, but all anyone can talk about from that game is this flop after a taking a shoulder from Boogie:

A few seconds later, Rondo’s teammate helped bring him back to life:

    I said this last year. Tyler will be considered the biggest steal in the history of the NBA draft.
