BBNBA: Enes Kanter loses in fight with a chair

mpfionrq0670ldcvzmxp

Enes Kanter did something really dumb in last night’s game and now he’s going to be riding the pine for an extended period of time for it. During the second quarter of the Thunder’s game against Mavericks last night, Kanter came to the bench heated with both the officiating and his play. Kanter lashed out by punching one of the chairs on the bench as hard as he could. The result? A fractured forearm and a 6-8 week initial recovery timetable for Kanter. While it is definitely Kanter’s own fault that he got hurt, you have to feel for the guy that was having the best season of his career and was probably the top choice for the NBA 6th Man of the Year award.

Enes Kanter, Oklahoma City Thunder (109-98 win over Mavericks)

MIN FG 3PT FT OREB DREB REB AST STL BLK TO PF +/- PTS
 9  1-3  0-0 2-4  1 3 4  2  0  1  3  2  -7  4

I mentioned it above, but here’s the video of Kanter punishing the chair.

Karl-Anthony Towns, Minnesota Timberwolves (109-103 loss to Pacers)

MIN FG 3PT FT OREB DREB REB AST STL BLK TO PF +/- PTS
 38 13-23  4-6  3-4  2  8  10  4  2  0  2  2  -7  33

How does he do it?

Just the casual 7-footer fading away and knocking down the triple.

Eric Bledsoe, Phoenix Suns (127-120 loss to Nuggets)

MIN FG 3PT FT OREB DREB REB AST STL BLK TO PF +/- PTS
 28  9-19 3-7  7-9  2  2  4  5  0  0  1  5  -15  28

Bledsoe dunks all over Kenneth Faried!

While that finish was with power, here’s one with finesse. Get you a guard who can do both.

Devin Booker, Phoenix Suns (127-120 loss to Nuggets)

MIN FG 3PT FT OREB DREB REB AST STL BLK TO PF +/- PTS
 33  9-17  1-6  5-6 0  0  0  6  1  0  5  2  -19  24

Steal and a slam for Book.

Brandon Knight, Phoenix Suns (127-120 loss to Nuggets)

Difficult finish in the lane for Jamal Murray.

Enes and the chair reminds me of when that US Navy ship tried to get the lighthouse to change its course…

Sucks for Enes. In his defense, padding on things can often be deceiving. The padding on the base of a backboard is only about 1/2 thick–the rest is steel. Only took 2 broken bones in the hand for me to figure that one out. Needless to say, I never punched an inanimate object again, regardless of how cushy it looked. I’m sure the padding on that chair looked cushy enough to Enes too and, I’m also sure, he learned the same lesson.
