Good afternoon, folks. The Warriors blew another 3-1 lead in the postseason. Let’s talk NBA playoffs.

(6) Nets – 123 @ (3) 76ers – 145 (Tied 1-1)

  • The Philadelphia 76ers avenged its Game 1 loss to the Brooklyn Nets by scoring the most playoff points ever by the team in franchise history. And no one checked their phone on the sideline, either! The Nets kept the game close throughout the first half and actually trailed by just one point at halftime. But to start the third quarter, the Sixers went on a 14-0 run and quickly ballooned the lead to 20-plus. Philly outscored Brooklyn 51-23 in the third quarter and that was all they needed to hang on and tie this series up heading to New York. Joel Embiid finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds while Ben Simmons recorded a triple-double.

(8) Clippers – 135 @ (1) Warriors – 131 (Tied 1-1)

  • Heartbreaking news out of this game. After finally earning the opportunity to make his playoff debut, DeMarcus Cousins injured his quad not even four minutes into his second ever postseason game. There is a significant concern that the former Kentucky big will once again be done for the season.

  • Cousins injured his quad while chasing down a loose ball.

  • Life really isn’t fair sometimes. And the last person on earth that this deserved to happen to was Cousins. Charles Barkley said on the TNT broadcast that the injury reminded him of the same one he had late in his career. Modern medicine has made some insane strides in bringing athletes back from serious injuries, so don’t count out Cousins for good. You know that he’s going to do everything he can to find a way to make it back.
  • But as for the actual game… Wow. The Clippers managed to even up the series heading back home by overcoming a 31 point Warriors lead. Yes, 31 points. Three. One. The largest comeback in NBA playoff history (sound familiar?) This league literally writes Hollywood scripts in its sleep. The Clippers were getting slapped 73-50 at halftime, then scored EIGHTY-FIVE points in the next two quarters. They put up Warriors numbers on the Warriors. You love to see it.
  • Steph Curry was still unguardable, scoring 29 points on 18 shot attempts and Lou Williams led the Clippers with 36 points and 11 assists. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander only contributed four points, but also registered five assists and four steals. He made the pass to Landry Shamet who hit the game-winning triple with under 16 seconds left and also showed off this fancy steal and slam combo.

  • And finally, I will leave you with this.
