Good afternoon, folks. Jamal Murray had to leave in the third quarter after injuring the same left ankle that forced him to sit out games earlier in the season. Let’s talk NBA.

  • It was actually a busy day for the BBNBA on (a disappointing) Sunday. Or, it would have been if everyone wasn’t either injured, benched, or ejected.
  • Eric Bledsoe (MIL), Hamidou Diallo (OKC), Patrick Patterson (OKC), and Jarred Vanderbilt (DEN), were all DNP-Coaches decisions, although Bledsoe sat out because his All-Star teammates Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton were sidelined. Darius Miller (NOP) is out 1-2 weeks after sustaining a left abductor strain while Anthony Davis (NOP) missed his third straight game with a back issue. John Wall (WAS) has been out a while now with multiple foot issues and Alex Poythress (ATL) continues to miss time with an ankle injury that could keep off the court for the rest of the season.
  • As for the guys who did see the court, we’ll begin in New Orleans. Rajon Rondo led the BBNBA in scoring with 24 points on an impressive 9-14 shooting (and an even more impressive 4-7 from three) to go along with five rebounds, 12 assists, and three steals. Rondo’s LeBron James-less Los Angeles Lakers beat down the Davis-less Pelicans, 130-102, who were led by 17 points courtesy of Julius Randle.

  • The Sacramento Kings took down the Spurs in San Antonio behind 12 points, four rebounds, and five assists from De’Aaron Fox. It was the first time in franchise history that the Kings swept the Spurs in the regular season. It also came the day after Sacramento was mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. Willie Cauley-Stein contributed 17 points and six rebounds on 6-9 shooting.
  • In Denver, Jamal Murray posted 12 points before he had to leave the game in the third quarter with a left ankle injury. It was the same ankle that forced Murray to miss six games in late January/early February but he did walk out of the arena on his own. With no Murray – or Nikola Jokic, who got himself ejected late in the fourth quarter – the Nuggets fell down the stretch to the Washington Wizards, 95-90.
  • In Oakland, the Golden State Warriors obliterated the poor Charlotte Hornets, 137-90. DeMarcus Cousins added eight points, three rebounds, two assists, and three blocks in 11 minutes before being ejected halfway through the second quarter after elbowing Willy Hernangomez in the head. Cousins was hit with a flagrant 2 foul, which resulted in the ejection. You be the judge.

  • Meh. It doesn’t look like Cousins did it on purpose, but he’s almost always going to get a flagrant for that, unfairly based off reputation, honestly. I could understand a flagrant 1, but an ejection seemed like a bit much unless things had been escalating before the altercation. Malik Monk shot 3-6 from the field for nine quick points in only eight minutes of playing time for Charlotte.
  • And finally, in Los Angeles, the Clippers took down the Memphis Grizzlies, 113-96, as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander posted six points, four rebounds, three assists, four steals, and two blocks in 28 minutes.
