Bam Adebayo will offiially be suiting up for the Heat through the 2021 season. Miami announced the decision Wednesday, although they technically had until Oct. 31 to finalize the agreement. The former Cat will make $5.1 million in the fourth year of his rookie-scale contract. He’ll make $3.45 million this year.
After a solid 2018-19 season, keeping Bam on the Heat’s roster seemed like an obvious decision. Adebayo is now set to become a restricted free agent in 2021, assuming he turns down a $7.1 million qualifying offer.

Several of his Miami teammates have praised Adebayo in recent weeks, according to the Miami Herald.
“He’s a great player, great screener, roll to the basket. He brings a lot of energy to the team and I feel like this year is going to be different. More minutes, more responsibility,” Goran Dragic said this week. “Everybody feels like, including me, that he’s ready for this big step in his career.”
“He’s a shooter – everybody should have known by now,” Derrick Jones Jr. said. “He didn’t shoot them last year because that was something we didn’t need him to do at the time. But now the ball is going to be in Bam’s hands a little bit more, so Bam’s going to be shooting those shots.”
The best part? He’ll be joined by another member of the BBN – Tyler Herro – in Miami this season.
