Bam Adebayo cut by Team USA, De’Aaron Fox a ‘virtual lock’ to make final roster

Bam Adebayo’s Team USA tryout has ended.

After Friday night’s intrasquad scrimmage, the U.S. National Team informed Adebayo his services were no longer needed. Thaddeus Young was also cut as Team USA’s training camp moves to Los Angeles.

A late addition to Team USA’s pre-FIBA World Cup training camp in Vegas, Bam recorded three points, two rebounds, one assist and two steals in 10 minutes of action in last night’s scrimmage. Adebayo did not show enough during his brief time with Team USA. The same cannot be said of his former UK teammate, De’Aaron Fox.

In only 15 minutes, Fox scored 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting. The point guard also tallied three assists, three steals, three rebounds and two blocks while committing just a pair of turnovers. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst said Fox is a “virtual lock” to make the final roster, even though USA Basketball initially only recruited him to play for the Select Team.

Exactly! Embarrassing for who Larkin? How many times were you so phenomenal at something your entire country even asked you to participate? And the US is the absolute gold standard in basketball on this planet. Bam is what? 21, 22? And here you are saying this shlt? Someone should absolutely be embarrassed, but it ain’t Bam my dude.

Thank you 4ever and nocode!!! Yeah it’s real embarrassing to be one of the thirty players in the world to even get a call about trying out. My god Larkin, I’m sure you’re a good person an all but that’s a pretty amazing feat to be honest. Bam is on track to be one of the best PF/C in the league for the next 10-15 years. He’ll be a multi year AllStar and will have a chance a Championship or two. Plus he a great guy. I’m sure it broke his heart to be cut but he’ll definitely use this to keep getting better and better. Also I’ll guarantee it was a hard decision to cut him. Anyway, have a good one guys.

What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Life is all about recovery. Bam will remember the lesson and improve his game.

Hope team USA enjoys their centers getting burned on every play because they aren’t fast enough to stay in front of their man.

Only 1 or 2 other Countries will even have a decent big guy and none will be good and fast, the C position is very weak right now all over the world including the USA. Last thing team USA will need to worry about is the C position. I am disappointed Bam did not advance as the guys he was competing against are not that good. Thought he would fit in well as this team should be about run and gun style which he can get up and down the floor.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but international ball is similar to the NBA as far as switching all over the place for mismatches. Bam at least has a chance at staying in front of guards with his athleticism. Plumlee and Turner, not so much.

Yep, Spain will probably again be the team to beat, and their big guys aren’t all that fast.

Its not like David Robinson or Karl Malone are ahead of him… In a time there are few big men playing in the NBA and a year where many great players are not going to be on the team. He still gets cut… Yes embarrassing….

Embarrassing for you, not for Bam or anyone else. Not to mention you’re embarrassing to BBN.

Fox is Cals best point guard.

Bams work ethic will only use this to grow more. Love them both.
