Anthony Davis Traded to the Los Angeles Lakers

Anthony Davis’ wish has been granted. The former Kentucky Wildcat will team up with LeBron James as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers.

First reported by Adrian Wojnarowski, the Pelicans are getting quite a bit for the Unibrow —  Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and three first-round picks — including the 2019 No. 4 overall pick.

Davis requested a trade just ahead of the deadline. When the Pelicans and Lakers could not reach an agreement, chaos filled the void. It took a little longer than he’d like, but Davis will get to be a Laker.

I will no longer cheer for Anthony Davis. He is selling out, whiney wang,Wang, and abuser of the no real cap rule. Good bye.

You no longer cheering for AD changes everything. Hahahahahaha You should have called a press conference last week.

Did you just start watching the NBA yesterday?…lol. It’s a business. And the cap means the top tier guys are basically underpaid (with many trash players are making max contracts), so they are all are looking at other considerations (winning a title, opportunities outside basketball, etc.). Living in the mega-market cities affords that.

Hold up! This just in. AD voided the trade following the news SethKirk2 was no longer gonna cheer for him.

Let’s face it…New Orleans is a small market team and sort of a stinky craphole.
LA, regardless of all its faults, is still one of the most amazing cities in the world. Especially for a very very rich young man.

Zion is going to get ate up in the NBA when he has to face talent like Tacko all over the league and they start calling his fouls. So don’t worry NOLA cat he’ll be a Pelican for years.

The team’s management does suck. The ownership is great. You clearly don’t know anything about the Bensons.

New Orleans is a small market team. It’s such a crap hole it’s a world tourist destination. Certainly can’t say the same about delray, but we might not be a great fit for the white bread boring type. LA on the other hand is a joke of a city.

I could care less about Zion or the pels or basketball I’m general. I hate that AD was such a b about the whole ordeal, and even more so that This clown LeBron got what he wanted again.

But y’all keep swinging hard in case you hit one!

How about this. AD wouldn’t have acted the way he did if the owners would hold the management accountable. They b’d out first.

Ingram and Hart are both fine. Ball however will be out of the league in 4 years or less. Can’t fix that shot.

    • Han
      7:47 pm June 15, 2019 Permalink

Maybe less. But now Boston has backed off interest AND AD’s agent made it clear he wouldn’t re-sign with Boston if they trade for him. Boston offering Tatum was the main reason the Pelicans didn’t take the Lakers’ offer before.

If they’d kept Boogie and Rondo and made a commitment to be a contender, AD would not
    have left.

I confess I don’t understand the NBA sufficiently to evaluate this deal. The players involved are basically inconsequential, but three first round picks? Is that a big deal? Is AD that big of a star that it is worth those three picks? I have no idea, but it will definitely be interesting in LA next year.

    • Han
      7:48 pm June 15, 2019 Permalink

Not counting the #4 pick this year, the other picks might be protected where the Pelicans don’t get them if they’re super high or whatever.

But trading away 3 first round picks is a pretty big deal. If something goes wrong with AD and Lebron, they can’t begin a rebuilding process for years without first rounders.

    • DelrayCat
      7:54 pm June 15, 2019 Permalink

That #4 pick will be a good one. Likely UVa’s Hunter. But after that those next two are probably no better than #25.

Gonna need to add a bunch of league-minimum vets to round out that roster.

    Do they still have Rondo?

There are plenty of players who will take a “pay cut” to play in LA (exactly what Cousins did this year in GS). The key is creating an enticing atmosphere for free agents to come there versus anywhere else for similar money. Many established players will title chase versus taking a little more money elsewhere.

I just didn’t want him with Lebron…too much “me” and no “team” in his heart.

  14. LVCAT

Lakers lose 3 and get 1 then give away 3 consecutive first round picks? Free agency has to be their focus.

Now I hate A D like I hate Randall Cobb. What a sell out! Good for him bad for the rest of us

    • Thetruthshallsetbennyfree
      9:15 pm June 15, 2019 Permalink

Randall was cut he had no choice about leaving GB and him going to a place that will actually use him was a no brainer. He has a family he has to take care of. And to be honest the only sell out team would have been NE because they’ve got caught cheating so many times they should have been forced to fire Beliclick.
