Anthony Davis lost $24 million today

It’s not a great day to be Anthony Davis. The young Pelicans star was set to receive a $24 million bonus if he made any of the three All-NBA teams; but he just missed out on being named to the third team, having received the third-most votes among players outside the cut, including one-first place vote.

The contract boost would’ve fallen under the “Rose Rule,” named after Derrick Rose, for any player still in his four-year rookie deal that earns an MVP award or is twice voted a starter in the All-Star game or twice named All-NBA. Davis was named First Team All-NBA and an All-Star starter last season, but was only a reserve in this year’s All-Star game and did not receive All-NBA honors.

Missing out on the bonus leaves Davis with only a measly $120 million contract. So that whole part about it not being a great day to be Anthony Davis is way off. Everyday is a great day to be Anthony Davis.

In related news, DeMarcus Cousins was named All-NBA Second Team today.

No way DeAndre Jordan is better than Davis or Cousins. It comes down to the fact the two ex-cats are playing for two of the worst franchises in the league. Both need to demand a trade to at least a half-way respectable team. Does anyone ever forsee either of these two teams ever be anything other than what they have been for years? Terrible teams with or without our guys.

I’d say it’s more about Jordan playing in 16 more games than Davis … 16 games is like 1/5 of an NBA season … Davis just wasn’t healthy to play enough games for a lot of people to consider him for certain awards … obviously some did not hold it against him, but he missed 21 games

I do find it hard to believe DeAndre Jordan is the NBA’s first team center, though … Towns will own this every year very soon

This will just force him to do more horrible television commercials to make up some of the difference!

I like the commercials; but, none are as good as state farm’s Hoopers. Damian Lillard is hilarious as the baby….no good clippers, no good clippers.
