Anthony Davis has been trapped inside a Bubble for the last four months, but his popularity keeps on growing.
Since the NBA’s Restart down in Orlando began back in June, the former Wildcat has the third-highest selling jersey in the league. Davis’ Los Angeles Lakers teammate, LeBron James, and Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic came in first and second, respectively. Former Murray State point guard and Memphis Grizzlies rookie, Ja Morant, made his debut in the top-15 after being named the 2020 Rookie of the Year.

Davis is the only former Wildcat to make the top-15, which isn’t too surprising. Although I am curious to know just how far behind Jamal Murray‘s Denver Nuggets or Bam Adebayo‘s Miami Heat jerseys are on the list. According to the NBA’s press release, Miami’s franchise merchandise sales cracked the top-5 (tabbed at No. 4) for the first time since they last made the NBA Finals in 2014. Also, for the first time since the 2018-19 regular season, Heat All-Star Jimmy Butler has a top-15 selling jersey, too (No. 10). With that being said, I would bet that Adebayo jerseys (and Tyler Herro jerseys, for that matter) are flying off the shelves right now, especially after their individual performances for Miami against the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Speaking of Davis and his marketability, is his “Fear the Brow” phrase still a thing? I feel like we don’t address the fact that he still has a unibrow nearly enough. He wears it well.
The Lakers and Heat will meet later on Wednesday at 9 p.m. (ABC) to tip-off Game 1 of the 2020 NBA Finals.
