Alex Poythress will get another shot in the NBA. The Atlanta Hawks transferred him back to the league after a successful stint in the NBA G League with the Erie Bayhawks.

Poythress averaged 24.5 points and 10.2 rebounds in 13 games in Erie, where he played alongside Terrence Jones and Isaac Humphries, two fellow former Kentucky Wildcats. In his final game with the Bayhawks, Wednesday night, Poythress had 41 points and 18 rebounds. The Hawks called him back up soon after.

Poythress played in 18 games with Atlanta earlier this season with an average of 4.9 points and 3.3 rebounds in those appearances, which included one start.

Good luck to Alex on his second shot with an NBA team in need of help.

If he ever gets the 3 ball going he’s a legitimate role player in the NBA, at the very least.

Agreed! Always thought maybe he was just too nice and too passive…this game with 30 shot attempts, 41 points 18 rebounds and 8 dimes though…maybe he finally said to hell with it im getting mine! Go nuts in the pros young man- Stay aggressive!

I always thought him and Miller were very similar in their on court demeanor. I always said once Darius dunked on someone it would just click that he can do that at almost any time, and it did. Poythress had a few good dunks but I don’t remember him having 1 defining facial dunk.

Lol. Look up State Farm Champions Classic against Duke in 2012. He has like 4 dunks that are vicious

One of my favorite players to watch. When he was having fun he was a force.
