Zimmerman cancels in-home visits

@VegasBballMom

If Stephen Zimmerman is going to be swayed from his UNLV lean, Kentucky’s only hope to do it will be through its three incoming freshmen at this week’s Jordan Brand Classic. Zimmerman has asked for space and privacy from all coaches as he nears the announcement of his decision. Any and all scheduled in-home visits have been canceled.
Isaiah Briscoe, Skal Labissiere and Charles Matthews will be with Zimmerman in New York later this week. They’re UK’s last shot in Zimmerman’s recruitment, although it sounds like he’s already made up his mind.

Like my favorite baseball announcer says, “he gone…”
Oh well…can’t get them all I guess although it’s disappointing since so many felt he was coming to UK for so long.
Can’t be true his mom just came out swearing all the reports are lies….seems like momma Z is the liar.
Every year we miss on one or two and people act like it’s the end of the world but by the fall we’ve forgotten about them. I’d welcome Zimmerman with open arms but if he wants to go somewhere else I wish him the best. He’s an 18 year old kid that needs to do what he thinks is best for him. Sometimes we forget as fans that it is not about us and we don’t need to take it personally when kids decide to take their talents to other schools. Coach Cal is the first to tell you…”Kentucky is not for everybody”.
GO CATS !!
I could care less where Zim goes, but there’s a difference between missing on a guy or 2 and putting a team together. After the 2012 run, we lost a lot of our team to the NBA and missed on recruits and didn’t have much of a team the next year. That’s what it’s starting to look like this year. It’s not done yet, but it’s starting to look scary. We recruited around (20) 5* guys in the 2015 class and we only have 2 right now with a few left to go.
^^^Could NOT care less is what you should have typed, Mr. Positive.
I TOLD EVERYONE 3 months ago he wasn;t coming here. he is a mommas boy. cant get too far from the tit. i play professional poker, im in vegas a LOT. A young poker pro i play with graduated from gorman and told me a christmas Zimm was going to UNLV. That is the reason they gave their coach another year. he told them he was getting zimmerman. until then, he was dead man walking!
and also, when they announced he was coming back for another year, momma Zimm was estatic on twitter!
No need to call her a liar. Maybe decision not made then or she is trying to sway her son or he hasn’t communicated to her his decision. Perhaps he has changed his mind several times & she thinks it is still in flux.
Anyway, the poor kid sounds stressed out over the decision & just needs coaches, fan bases and random people to BACK OFF. It’s his future, his decision, his life.
Best of luck to him however it goes.
UNLV was 18-15 this season and did not make the NCAA Tournament. The previous season they had a losing record. I don’t understand why a player of his caliber would want to go there, but whatever. I wish him the best.
isn’t he from vegas? maybe he just wants to stay close to home… they just had the #1 pick a couple years ago (yeah i know he’s been a bust so far in the nba, but he prob just sees them as having a #1 pick and nothing else) and with his family being close by, that has got to be a pretty attractive deal to him..
UNLV is in his hometown (Las Vegas), but that doesn’t change the fact that they’re terrible and have been for some time.
Maybe he just sees how other white kids do here and doesn’t want to ride the bench or transfer in two years.
He should go to Louisville where they aren’t afraid throw in their Egyptians and white boys. Unless he wants a career in the NBA some day.
Or Duke, or Wisconsin, they did better than us
What a stupid comment. Why bring race into it especially when that has zero to do with it. WTF is wrong with people?
So we only win 30 games this year, man lets stop crying about losing these guys and let these kids do what they want.
BINGO!!!!!!
Nail on the head.
UK is not for everyone. The big stage with big games on National TV. NCAA final four runs and daily competition in practice is not for everyone.
“UK is not for everyone” is a negative statement that may fit some but not all recruits. By that, I mean some may shy away from the pressure & spotlight, but c’mon, many just – for whatever reasons – prefer to go elsewhere. Name ANY school and you could say “X is not for everyone.” It’s a catchy cliche but with the ego & NBA ambitions most of the top recruits have, I don’t think it’s reasonable to assume most are intimidated by the thought of coming to UK versus Kansas, UCLA, Duke, North Carolina, etc. When they choose to go elsewhere, the reasons are varied and individual.
Sorry to get on my soapbox, but whenever I hear that cliche after we lose a recruit, it sounds like an arrogant EXCUSE.
Too white anyway.
It seems the trolls are out trying to stir up trouble.
Give the kid some credit. Maybe he doesn’t want to troll all the fanbases till the end like that what’s his name punk running back from Berea. If he wants to go somewhere else good for him. Maybe he wants to be near his family. We will get ours.
