Za’Darius Smith cited for possession of marijuana

Za’Darius Smith is one of the best pass rushers in the NFL these days with eight sacks in seven games this season, but it is the sack of another kind that has the former Kentucky Wildcat star heading to court next week.

Smith was cited for possession of the devil’s lettuce during a traffic stop back on September 29. Smith and two of his Packers teammates, Rashan Gary and Kingsley Keke, were traveling back to Green Bay from Chicago when the car, driven by Smith, was pulled over just south of Milwaukee.

According to the report, Smith was stopped after he was clocked going 81 mph in a 60 mph construction zone. The officer smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle, and all three men were pulled out and handcuffed for questioning.

None of the players smelled marijuana, they each said, but Smith admitted to smoking in a Chicago apartment before the road trip. A search of the vehicle found three blunts and a vaping cartridge in a duffel bag.

Smith will head to court next week for tickets on speeding and possession of marijuana.

The possession is not a criminal charge.

Weed isn’t illegal anymore Andy Griffith. Speeding is … you must be one holy guy to never have a ticket and condescend on the other poor unfortunate sounds who have . Take us back to heaven with you

Although it may change the NFL still deems it illegal and he will probably get a game suspension.

If by ‘what’s up with our guys’ you mean, having great start to the season, then yes; what is up!!! So these guys that punish their bodies day in and out smoke pot? Who gives a shit. Farve popped pills half his career but we all still loved him (big GB fan btw), but soon as someone is busted with pot everyone loses their minds. Strange times we live in.

Just follow the law until it changes. Is that so difficult?

It’s awful nice the driver didn’t get cited for a dui …. lesser men would have been nailed for such .

Except the article says none of them appeared to be high and none smelled of weed when they got out of the car so none of us lesser men would have been charged in that case. I don’t smoke weed and prefer those around me do not but it is legal in many places and NFL is thinking bout it to. To me the worst part of this is him doing 81 in a construction zone, no excuse for that and makes me think he believes he is entitled for whatever reason these idiots speed like that. Is dangerous just to get wherever you are going a couple minutes earlier, not worth the risk of many others.

I’d say 75% or more players in the nfl smoke. A lot do it for pain management.

I would say a higher average. Although josh Gordon may account for 98 percent of that average

You just have to be a little smarter than speeding down the highway with one blazed. It’s a 3 hour drive from Chicago to GB, so stow it and do the speed limit

It’s weed, if you have ever had a beer and drove home it’s the same thing, except I argue beer/liqour is worse, I have never gotten high and woke up next to a fat girl, can’t say the same when it comes to a night of drinking. So everybody roll themselves a joint and calm down.

I’m an advocate for legal weed but one beer and one joint are not equal.

I don’t indulge, but when are we going to put an end to this “Reffer Madness”? Utterly insane to think we’re still scheduling pot level 1. But let’s keep making alcohol consumption/abuse socially acceptable. SMH.

One big fact. If weed was so bad, how is Big Z having his greatest year by far? There’s your answer right there as to if it effects ones health or mind. Very intelligent high level elite player this year. Changed the packers identity. Still shouldn’t be speeding, but these guys go through it. A little weed is way better than the alternatives of the past. Wayyy better

It’s not that they have weed on them. It’s that they drive after smoking it that disappoints me.
