YAHTZEE! Three-Star 2020 Offensive Tackle Commits to Kentucky

@GeraldMincey

@GeraldMincey

This work week is starting with a win on the recruiting trail.  Three-star Florida offensive tackle Gerald Mincey announced he has committed to Kentucky.

Mincey is the second Florida offensive lineman to commit to UK in the 2020 recruiting class, joining Cocoa offensive tackle Richie Leonard.  The 6’6″ 315-pounder from Ft. Lauderdale blocked for UK quarterback Nik Scalzo last year at Cardinal Gibbons High School.  247 Sports ranks Mincey as the No. 96 offensive tackle in the 2020 class.  He also held offers from Arizona, UCF, WKU and FIU.

It’s an unusual time for a commitment, but there’s never a bad time to roll the dice.

    As with “any” football verbal… I will now wait till next signing day before any reaction.

    Wow – how in the world is this kid a 3 star. Watched first minute of reel and can see he’s a player. Looks to be a road grader with a nasty streak – exactly what we need for O-line. Welcome to the BBN – Go Cats!

      It’s Florida, if he were in KY, he’s be a 4 star.

      He’s a junior; he’ll probably become a 5 star and Fla, Bama, Ga, and LSU will come calling.

      My sources say that this kid will be every bit as good as 5 Star, Matt Elam…

    I due wish their was a rule that they just sign with a program instead of committing

    Verbal commitments are like conflating a tinder match with “and now we’re married.” Lol

    I’m always impressed with Stoops’ troops in evaluating talent. His ratings and exposure will now elevate, and it will be tough to keep that commitment. But, again, I’m glad our coaches have such a good eye for great talent/potential, even if some of it ends up elsewhere.

    Stoops and company are the best at evaluating talent with the young kids. Most of the time you always hang onto your first love at their age, but there are times when the jock comes in and takes them away

    So cute to hear people afraid to be excited about football recruiting. So fragile. How do people get through a day?
