YAHTZEE! Russ Yeast commits to Kentucky!

We knew good news was coming, but this Yahtzee is extra special. Russ Yeast, son of UK legend Craig Yeast, just committed to Kentucky. The 2017 three-star athlete from Fremont, Ohio had offers from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisville, Maryland, Washington State, and others, but decided to follow in his father’s footsteps at Kentucky.

Russ is considered the 33rd best wide receiver in the 2017 class and the 11th best player from the state of Ohio by 247 Sports, making him a huge, huge get for Mark Stoops and staff. He’s considered a four-star prospect by ESPN.

Here’s his tweet announcing his commitment:

This is Kentucky 2nd commitment in less than 24 hours, and we’re hearing more is on the way this week. Until then, enjoy Russ Yeast’s highlights:

He wasn’t really considering Loserville to begin with. He’s a UK Legacy kid.

UK football is on the rise. This 2015 season will be a step forward, and the team will keep getting better as our “young talent” becomes “mature talent” with new talented young backups. Enjoy the journey!

Not to take anything away from Tim Couch, but Craig Yeast made Tim’s job a LOT easier with his Yards After Catch. People think the Air Raid is just throwing it downfield, but it was quick, short passes and letting Yeast do what he did best–avoid tackles. He was the best I have ever seen at it at UK.

Can’t wait for his son to get here and start his own legacy.

No one thinks Air Raid is throwing it down field. 95% of Mumme’s passes were less than 15 yards and probably 50% were less than 6 yds down the field. We were the master of the bubble screen and if we had had an offensive line that could hold a block for long enough we surely would have gone downfield more.

I believe Dawson’s version of that offense stretches the field more, but it all depends on the o-line.

If he is anything like his father, this will be a major get! He is an all-time fan favorite.
