Jager Burton is officially a Wildcat.
The No. 1 overall prospect from the state of Kentucky in the class of 2021 announced his commitment during a ceremony at KSBar and Grille Sunday evening. He chose the Cats over Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson and Oregon.
His decision took place at the bar, where he was joined by his family, as well as fellow Kentucky commit Dekel Crowdus and Kentucky recruiting target Dane Key. If you missed Burton’s official announcement, you can re-watch the exciting moment here.
Burton, a 6-foot-4, 271-pound offensive lineman out of Lexington, is considered the No. 59 overall prospect and No. 3 offensive guard in the 2021 247Sports Player Rankings. In june, Burton saw a massive leap in the national rankings, jumping a whopping 109 spots to the No. 61 overall player in 247 Sports’ national recruiting rankings. The Frederick Douglass High School product is considered a consensus four-star recruit.
As an eighth grader, Burton took a picture with KSR’s own Matt Jones at a UK football pregame show. As a twelfth grader, he committed to Kentucky at KSBar & Grille. Next year, he’ll be suiting up inside Kroger Field himself.
