YAHTZEE: Andru Phillips commits to Kentucky

Andru Phillips is the newest member of Kentucky’s 2020 recruiting class.

A three-star cornerback out of South Carolina, Phillips picked the Cats over four other finalists in his recruitment: Louisville, NC State, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech. He had originally planned to announce his decision in early July, but after visiting Lexington this past weekend, he decided to go ahead and commit Monday evening.

He is the third commitment in UK’s next class, joining Lamar Goods, a defensive tackle out of Connecticut, and John Young, another new addition who visited with Phillips over the weekend and pledged his commitment on Sunday.

247Sports ranks Phillips as the No. 57 cornerback in 2020 and the 11th best prospect out of South Carolina. He is a legacy recruit; his father, Carlos Phillips, played at UK in the late 80s.

another low IQ fan. First we don’t see them do it all the time, many more commits stay than switch. Second if you knew anything about recruiting football you would know that a kid switching is a sign you are getting top talent. We never had that before so I excuse your ignorance. See in the past a kid that did commit to UK stayed because we were their best offer. Now we are in on talent early and the big dogs want them so sure, we will lose a few. Shows what we are getting now vs then. Watch any signing day and you will see kids flip from Bama, Oh St, UGA, LSU, FSU etc. on the actual signing day. Now that said it has little to do with these last 2, they are C-A-T-S all the way and no worries of a switch.

Why is getting a 3star commit a Yahtzee?

Because Josh Allen was a 2-star recruit. That’s why. Trust in the coaches to know talent and stop worrying about the stars. I think you can agree you can trust our coaches. Have you seen what they’ve done since they’ve been here? YAHTZEE!!!
