Women’s basketball coaches will rock custom shoes in honor of Pat Summitt

The Kentucky women’s basketball game will be back in action Thursday night when they take on Missouri. And while it’s the first game back following their bye week – and another challenging, top-25 matchup – it will mean a little extra to the coaching staff. The game is part of “We Back Pat Week” across the SEC, bringing awareness and honoring the legacy of Pat Summitt. Representatives of the Pat Summitt Foundation are also scheduled to be on hand for a special check presentation.

Assistant coaches Niya Butts and Kyra Elzy will rock these custom sneakers by True Blue Customs.

The shoes will also be auctioned off as part of the foundation’s fight to end alzheimer’s.

Some sad news: the game will be extra bittersweet, as Pat Summitt’s mother just passed away Wednesday afternoon.

May their family find some peace during this heartbreaking time.

I guess it’s impossible to honor someone while wearing your own school colors

Really? You’re purposely choosing to make this argument? THE GREATEST coach of all time in the women’s game and her life aren’t worth putting a little orange on their shoes? Some of y’all amaze me with just how not-picky you are. Pat did SOOOOO much both on and off the court and was/is a literal legend in the game of basketball, never mind women’s basketball, I mean basketball period. I guarantee you that if someone like Roy Williams got terminally ill tomorrow and was gone by Friday you’d see Carolina blue worn by tons of teams in some way. It’s about a life and legacy and your dumb azz just turned it into “but muh colors”. Gtfo

You seriously are a angry little guy. And THE GREATEST LMAO. Pretty sure a guy named Geno who lives in Connecticut might beg to differ. Literal legend you say? That’s why when you hear names of greatest coaches her name is always brought up. Oh wait. NO ITS NOT. Regardless of your opinion, it’s entirely possible to honor someone, no matter which team, without sporting some ugly shoes with rival colors splashed across them. So now who’s the dumb azz? Not the greatest women’s coach, not a legend among all basketball coaches, just in the women’s circle. Deal with it

You’re aware that UK didnt want her right? She wanted to coach here and the University refused to pay her moving expenses. For you to say that shows your ignorance pal. She was one of the greatest of ALL time in Men’s or Women’s, college or pros. If it weren’t for ignorance the UK women would be playing on Pat Summit’s floor every home game

I also feel that when UK plays in Rupp they should hold a moment of silence for the kid that got shot before the season started
