Willie Cauley-Stein’s Tuesday Morning Wakeup

We’d like to take a brief moment on this lovely Tuesday morning to wish the happiest of birthdays to Willie Cauley-Stein. Willie turns 22 today and he’s already accomplished more than I ever will, not that that’s saying a whole lot. That list includes consensus All-American honors and the brutal murders of several college basketball players, namely those from Florida, LSU and Cincinnati in early 2015.

Willie is out in Sacramento now with the Suicide Squad, but he celebrated his birthday in Lexington over the weekend and SnapChat told me it was a pretty good time. You and I definitely missed out on the fun.

So Happy Birthday to Willie and Happy Birthday to Kenny Walker, too. The two Wildcat greats share this one.

Now let’s talk about sports and stuff…

There was a ton of football news yesterday.

Super-fast recap for those who missed it:

— Patrick Towles is your starting quarterback.

— Marcelys Jones dismissed from the team, not even two months after committing. (I’m not even mad; that’s amazing.)

— Chris Westry is running with the first team at cornerback.

— Ryan Flannigan is still out with a shoulder injury.

— Boom Williams is running again, but still not completely back.

We will hear from the offense today.

Offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson and members of UK’s offense will be available to the media after practice this evening. Nick Roush will have his recap here on the site around dinnertime.

Expect more from Towles on his starting role.

Tyler Ulis was breaking ankles in Chicago over the weekend.

That’s your starting point guard, guys. Look at him. Just look at him.

Rajon Rondo’s Massachusetts home is for sale.

Now that he’s in Sacramento, Rondo has no need for his old home outside of Boston.

You can buy the five-bedroom, six-bathroom home for $1.99 million.

Read all the details here.

Kent Bulle will play in the PGA’s Web.com event this weekend.

Our favorite golfer shot 34/29 (with a double bogey) in yesterday’s qualifier for the News Sentinel Open in Knoxville. Kent had no problem getting into the field with that score and I’ll be walking with him in the tournament this weekend.

We’re undefeated together in 2015 (1-for-1), so look for a picture of us holding a $110,000 check on my Instagram Sunday night.

Let’s get this money.

I’m going to the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati tomorrow.

Anyone else going to be there?

(It’s a tennis tournament.)

KSR radio added its 35th and 36th affiliates yesterday.

Hello, Ashland and Elizabethtown! Welcome to the party!

Today’s show is live from UK volleyball’s open practice.

I must say, that’s not something I ever expected to write, but that’s where Matt and Ryan are for today’s show. The practice will be open from 10 am to noon in Memorial Coliseum.

I’m a diehard UK fan who lives just outside Knoxville. And living in the middle of Vol Country is just about as difficult as you would imagine. But Downtown Grill and Brewery makes up for some of that hardship. You should check it out while you’re in Knoxville.
