Over the last year we’ve seen the Kentucky coaching staff do a lot of things in the recruiting front that have never been done before at UK. They’ve walked through snowstorms, gone to Ohio and snaked prospects from Urban Meyer, and have kept the best instate players home.
Part of the reason Stoops has been so successful is because of the special attention they are giving to these young players. Matt Elam received 182 letters from UK in one day. They gave Eli Brown the gigantic poster above to cover up all of the Florida colors in his room. Hell, the team has new grey uniforms but the only people that have worn them are visiting recruits.
All of the big stunts have seemed to work so far, keeping Elam and Brown in the Bluegrass State, but in trying to pull off a similar stunt, Ohio State and Michigan have forced their proverbial feet into their own mouths. Mike Weber is a consensus Top 10 Running Back in the 2015 class from Detroit that has found himself in the middle of a battle between the Big 10’s biggest rivals (but he’s no Damien Harris). Last week Weber received the piece of mail below from Michigan.
OK so it’s one typo. We missppelll things all of the time at KSR; we can turn the other cheek. But what isn’t forgivable is that the Buckeyes couldn’t learn from their rival’s failure. This was DMed to Weber a week later from an OSU coach.
I hear Coach Zoolander over at the “Center for Kids Who Can’t Read Good and Wanna Learn To Do Other Stuff Good Too” is school #3 on Weber’s list.
