WATCH: UK Cheerleading shows off Championship Routine

Next week the Kentucky cheerleading team will begin their quest for a 25th National Championship. Before they perform in front of a panel of judges, they rehearsed in front of the BBN at halftime of Kentucky’s victory over Alabama.

Somehow Dr. Mike captured a few amazing flips with his camera. I don’t know how he does it.

See more snapshots from Rupp Arena in Dr. Mike’s Facebook photo gallery.

Incredible! I was competitive collegiate cheerleader in the late-90’s and I watch the tumbling that is expected of the men now and just shake my head. These men and women are some elite athletes!

Agreed. My daughter has won 5!!! State titles in cheer. Yet they do not get the recognition they deserve. Because it is not an IHSAA sanctioned sport, they never get a mention. Unlike ALL the other sports, there is no “offseason”. When football season ends-basketball starts. They cheer games Friday nights and then have to get up at 6AM to travel out of town for their own competitions. Much respect from me.
