WATCH: CBS Sunday Morning tells the story of Pappy Van Winkle, “the world’s most coveted bourbon”

In case you missed it, America’s favorite TV show, “CBS Sunday Morning,” profiled the world’s most coveted bourbon, Pappy Van Winkle, this past Sunday.

Lee Cowan traveled to the Bluegrass to sit down for dinner with the Van Winkle family and “the current keeper of the Van Winkle secret,” Julian Van Winkle III. Julian, his son Preston, and triplet daughters told Cowan the story of the family business from the early beginnings to the Beverage Testing rating that changed it all.

The “Sunday Morning” profile dropped before the upcoming release of a new book about Pappy, “Pappyland: A Story of Family, Fine Bourbon, and the Things That Last,” written by Wright Thompson, who also appears throughout the CBS piece.

It’s good, it’s definitely really good. But I’m not going to pay that premium for it.

I’ve had it and it doesn’t beat Woodford, Woodford Double Oak, Blantons, or Old Forester Statesman 95 Proof.
It’s all about the marketing. I’ll take $28 750ML Woodford ALL day over Pappy. I’m not the type to say ‘hey I’ve got some Pappy look at me’.
But I also like premium cigars and everyone’s pallet is different.
