Larry Vaught posted an interesting short article on his website, vaughtsviews.com earlier today. In the article, Larry referenced ComcastSportsNet’s Central Kyle Draper who questioned whether or not Randle was used to the best of his ability while at Kentucky. Draper’s analysis:
“He’s the most NBA-ready outside of Jabari Parker. A double-double machine. One NBA source told me John Calipari did not use him to the best of his ability.“
I will be the first to admit that Julius has his fair share of weaknesses, and will need to improve a lot to become anymore than a decent NBA player. He is extremely left-hand dominate, he isn’t a good passer, and his defense needs works. However, how many 19 year old kids truly are ready for the NBA?
The notion that one of the best players in the country, and the best player on a team who went to the NCAA championship game, “wasn’t used to the best of his ability” seems ludicrous to me. Sure, Julius needs to get better and develop his game, but that is no fault of Kentucky or John Calipari.
