You know that feeling when you just don’t wanna wake up? Not because you have to go to work, but because your dream was so amazing you want to play it out a just a little longer. Well, right now I know that feeling all too well.
This morning my alarm abruptly awoke me from a fantastic dream, a dream of a National Championship. For better or worse, it had very few details. The resonating and overwhelming feeling of joy filled me as confetti fell from the ceiling.
Not all dreams come true, but some do, and I’d like for this one to happen in the next six weeks.
College Gameday is Coming to College Station
And the Cats won’t be at full strength in the frontcourt. Alex Poythress is out, Marcus Lee’s lower back is questionable, and Derek Willis is fighting multiple ailments.
The way I see it — I’m more concerned about walking away without anymore injuries than I am walking away with a win. A win today would add gravy to the UK’s tournament resume, but they don’t need to win to clinch an SEC title or a 1-2 seed. Would it be nice to see them put it together to win a close game in a tough atmosphere on the road? Of course, but you don’t need to win to learn those lessons.
Is this a way to put my guard up in case the Cats do lose? Of course, but that doesn’t mean Kentucky can’t win. A&M is struggling while the Cats are hitting their stride down the stretch.
All of the above makes it practically impossible to predict how things will go when the ball is tipped at 6:30 on ESPN. College Gameday will begin on ESPN at 11:00.
Jeff Foxworthy is All Cats Everything
Foxworthy ditched his native Georgia red for some Kentucky Blue last night in Rupp Arena. Sorry I didn’t use your picture Jimmy. Even though you were in the front row, remember, it’s hard to take clear pictures when you’re drunk.
Get Your Kentucky Football Fix
Earlier this week, Freddie and I decided to pass the downtime in the football calendar by predicting the Week One starters for the offense and defense. Even though our prognostications are not dogma, there’s one thing that stands out: the lack of Seniors. There’s only one Senior on offense — Jon Toth — and four on defense — Blake McClain, Marcus McWilson, Courtney Miggins and Jason Hatcher. Even though Stoops is entering his fourth year, the best is yet to come.
Landon Young is Wrestling for a State Title
He got off to a pretty good start yesterday, winning his first two matches in 10 and 44 seconds. He’s three wins away from claiming the Heavyweight State Title at Alltech Arena inside the Kentucky Horse Park.

Some More Not-So-Humble Brags and a Happy Birthday
Allow me to brag on my family for a minute or two…
On Thursday, my sisters nearly outscored their opponents for the second time this season, combining for 53 points. My sister Courtney tied Christine’s career-high with 29 points. The school’s Division I single-game scoring record is now shared by the two. What’s even better? Courtney didn’t even play until this year. We like to call her the “Derek Willis of NKU women’s basketball.” They rewarded the two with an interview last night on The Big One, 700 WLW out of Cincinnati. I’m pretty proud, to say the least.
And while I’m at it, a Happy Birthday to little brother Nathan. I think he likes the number 20; #20 on WKU’s football team turns 20 on 2/20.
The KSR Pregame Show Begins at 4:00
You should know the drill by now, but a friendly reminder that Matt, Ryan and Drew’s pregame show starts two-and-a-half hours before tip-off on 630 WLAP. Maybe by then we’ll know who Cal will be working with in College Station.
