The University of Kentucky women’s volleyball team defeated Louisville 3-1 Sunday in front of a huge crowd in Memorial. The Cats fell short early, dropping the first set to the Cardinals, but made up for it by winning the next three for the win. Kentucky has now won three straight times over the Cards and five of the last six matches.
Anni Thomasson led the Cats attack with 13 kills and 13 digs on a. 227 hitting percentage. Morgan Bergren added five kills and nine digs on .417 hitting percentage. Bergren also totaled more assists than anyone on the team COMBINED with 38 assists. Ashley Dusek led the team in digs with 17.
With 11 blocks, Kaz Brown broke a Kentucky blocking record for the most blocks in a game in the 25-point rally scoring era.
Louisville drops to 6-4 while the Cats move to 7-5 with its third win in a row. The win is huge for the Cats’ confidence this season and sets a new pace for the Cats as the squad enters SEC play next week.
