Marrow_Vincesummernationals2014

Vince Marrow had an awesome weekend. Not only did UK pull in three commitments, his daughter’s 12-and-under softball team, the Bluegrass Force, won the World Fastpitch Connection World Series in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The tournament included the best teams from Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Tennessee, and Kentucky.

Marrows making the BBN proud all over the place.

Is it me or has youth sports gotten out of control? I thought USSSA was the governing body for youth softball. Just how many youth sports organization organizations are out there holding nationals, world series, regionals, qualifiers, etc? Every weekend, the ball field complex in E-town seems to be hosting different tournament which are supposed to be for elite travel teams. Half of them look like recreation league all star teams that masquerade as elite travel teams. Do kids play for fun anymore?

Competition is fun. Winning is great. It inspires winners and losers.
