VEGAS! (Friday Show Thread)

Inclement weather forced the KSR crew to alter their route.  Instead of spending the day in Sedona, they finished the drive to Vegas a day early.  Hopefully the extra day does not come back to bite them in the butt.

I really like the interpretation for L1C4 I just saw on the top 10 tweets post. Lie1stCheat4ever. I’m sure it’s nothing new, but it’s perfect.

Alabama just got a commitment from 4-star QB, Tua Tagovailoa. Looks like the next coming of Marcus Mariota. I wonder what Mac Jones is thinking now that Kiffin is gone.

    • He actually committed in May (I only knew this because I live in Bama and listen to a couple local shows):

And now that you mention it, 2 more Bama QB’s (Cooper Bateman and David Cornwell) recently announced they’re transferring, so that makes 3 along with Blake Barnett. So the table is now clear for former UK commit Mac Jones to start in a couple years if he can earn the job over Tua (and assuming Jalen Hurts goes pro a year early) and whoever else comes in.

Yeah I misworded my original comment. He “reaffirmed” his commitment following the announcement Kiffin was leaving. I wonder why so many elite QB’s keep going to Alabama in the same classes. Only 1 will get significant time.

    • Right you are. That’s why they just lost 3 in one year. Kinda crazy.

More ‘Bama over recruiting which was the reason we learned that Georgia Tech left the SEC.
Have to say Tech seems like a quality institution and a worthy opponent, especially considering their high academic standards.
So, we get polar opposites of the ACC. Tech in the bowl game, and this weekend, one of the trashy shameful institutions, North Carolina.

See I thought it was weird that Mac committed DURING the Kiffin era, because kiffin was the spread em out guy that wants a Hurts or Tagovailoa kind of player. But now that he is gone, does saban go back to his pro style roots or does he hire another spread em out guy since he has a future all-star on his team for another two years by the name of Hurts?

That will be the big factor in determining mac jones’s future… imo

    • The new OC might be Steve Sarkesian (he’s a consultant, same as Kiffin when he first came to Bama). I don’t know what he runs.

rg454, yep, programs like ‘Bama will recruit some of these kids JUST to keep other programs from getting them.

And yes, that is a trashy, shameful institution that has for decades posed as a top-tier, holier-than-thou, poo-don’t-stink institution that does things the “right” way, or should I say, “the Carolina Way”. Puuuleeezzzee….

    • Really, mod bot??? I tried posting the comment that would not post yesterday, and it is TOTALLY non-offensive, unless Nick Roush just REALLY hates any reference to Chuck Connors, John Wayne, & James Arness…oy vey!!!

John Wayne’s given name was Marion….that is one big, bad Marion. Wonder how many kids got their butts kicked at recess over that.

The moderation bot strikes us all periodically. There is no rhyme or reason to it.

    • But it’s that particular comment though. Weird.

RG, I also replied to your story about Arness giggling during filming by saying that Floyd the Barber made Don Knotts laugh in his initial appearance on Andy, but that footage is apparently not out there either. They didn’t foresee “Bloopers & Practical Jokes” coming along!

    • Hey, that one posted! I also agreed with you that Connors, Arness, and Wayne brought a lot of swagger to the screen, partly due to being such big dudes, but also those square jaws and such.

You’re right, today’s “stars” just don’t have that. Another macho man of that era was Steve McQueen.
I don’t think too many people messed with him.

    • If you’ve ever watched “Pawn Stars”, Rick has the hugest man-crush on McQueen. On one episode he bought a Mustang and spent a ton to have it restored. It was the same model McQueen drove in a movie (“The Bullet” or something).

there are some strange words on the auto moderate scan that is a wordpress thing. you might have triggered one of those words that in context seems ok but out of context could be something shady.

the mod bot strikes us all…except Fat Sparxxx and his **** links (**** is for a 4-letter word starting with s and ending with m. potted meat. apparently the mod bot doesn’t like that word and makes your comment get lost when you use it).

    • Possibly, but I don’t see any word that can be taken as any kind of double entendre (sp?). Who knows though?

    • I didn’t use that word either, but you’re right, they need to completely block that dude.

  6. ICYMI yesterday:

Who likes to save money??? Random tip from CGINWTTD:

If you’ve never seen this column/blog, read it every weekday. He has (often exclusive) deals & discounts on electronics, software, etc., sometimes even free software. It’s great for Christmas shopping, but I’ve ordered several items from Amazon over the last couple years and saved a good bit of money:

NOTE: sometimes his best deals sell out quickly, so if you set up an RSS feed, you can jump quickly on something that you like. Happy shopping! [and no, that’s not me nor a family member or friend. 🙂 ]

it’s about time too. jurich has had this his entire tenure at lousville. but the mire was always directed AT pitino, oh but he’s a hall-of-famer. but then it was AT petrino, aw well he’s changed now.

Now the entire program from top to bottom is in question and rightfully so

You got to hand it to those Cardinal Fans. All the chit they have had to deal with, the fatigue of playing the game, “How Could Get Any Worse” with Jurich, Pitino and Petrino.
Every season, every year, they just get curb stomped and continue to be vilified by the actions of those three guys, yet the Louisville fans dutifully, and in an orderly fasion, line back up to stick their fork in the electrical socket, again and again, while running their mouths like they got something to be proud of. If that was any other school, those three would have been history, years ago. But as corrupt as the university’s administration has been, it is without wonder, it has gotten this bad.
Sometimes, it is about ethics and morals, doing what is right. The culture of Louisville will never allow those traits to be utilized, for anyone.
Jurich, Pitino, and Petrino are the most self centered individuals, and it shows, with no regard to the school or fan base.

ukjaybrat, excellent observation. Explains a lot about the mentality of the Cardinal fan. No self esteem, or self worth, desperation to cover up the scars, and delusional to the point it is dangerous to their health, mentally and physically. I am definately hitting the “Like” button.
