UofL paid Tom Jurich’s bar bill at two country clubs

The Courier-Journal has pretty much ended Tom Jurich’s run at Louisville with its reporting of Jurich’s robbery of the university today.

In going through the reports, you’ll find plenty of insane perks Jurich had, but one really stands out to me among the rest: UofL paid Jurich’s bar tab at two different country clubs, on top of the $53,000 in annual membership dues.

Sign me up for that job!

Jurich is basically a case study in absolute power corrupting absolutely. Ramsey let him run amok, the Dirty Bird Mafia, of which Jurich is a prominent member, has robbed both the University and the City of Louisville blind for the better part of a decade, and *finally* someone at the CJ is standing up and saying “wait a minute, this guy’s as sleazy as anyone can get!”

And yet, there are *still* people (who aren’t even afraid of him) arguing he should keep his job? He’s going to have an awfully hard time directing their athletics department from the prison cell where he belongs.

I am as big a Calipari fan as you’ll find….in all honesty, I was on my soapbox singing Cal’s praises and polling for him to be UKs head man before Billy Clyde came in and ran the program off the cliff. That being said, if Cal had done HALF as much as jurich or pitino, I would start the petition to get him outta’ here. Ethics, morals and image come before “win at all costs”….so i agree with you, HOW can these UL people be supporting this guy in any possible way?? THEY JUST DONT GET IT.

No wonder the local media loves him so much. Unlimited food and booze, paid by Kentucky taxpayers.

      Paid by UofL students.

Students “contributions” pale in comparison to the tax “contributions”. It is a state university. Federal taxpayers as well.

Give the guy a break! I would hate for a top AD to have to resort to stealing beer and corn dogs from Walmart.

This is especially anger inducing when I think about how much U of L has bragged about being the richest athletic program in the country for the last several years.

So Jurich’s country club dues, paid for by all of us (essentially), come very close to the median US household income.

Why in the hell does someone with millions of dollars in the bank need to have his country club dues and bar bill subsidized? Just goes to show the attitude of many of the ultra-wealthy – no matter how much they have, they want MORE. Meanwhile, there are a lot of Americans who work multiple jobs and are still wondering how they are going to pay the rent, keep food on the table, and pay medical expenses, now that the insurance companies are reaming everyone so that their executives can have their country club dues paid for as well.

If I could work for U of L and collect just the Graft for 5 years, and keep it then spend a year in jail…Id do it. I could live on 30 million the rest of my life.

I think we might now know where all the millions from the University Fund have gone. Ramsey, Jurich and Pitino.
This is what is wrong with college sports.

The article is online, but it is not in the paper this morning. They aren’t even talking about it on WHAS this morning. I’d think that would be on the front page of the paper and the top news story on the radio. Surprise surprise.
