The University of Kentucky is requiring all students returning to campus this fall to get a PCR coronavirus test. The free tests outside of Kroger Field will take place through Aug. 22.

The first round of results are now public information. There were 1,600 people tested on Monday, Aug. 3. Twelve (12) tested positive for COVID-19, indicating a positivity rate of .7%.

Thursday afternoon Governor Andy Beshear said that at least one of the positive tests was the result of a party.

“I loved college when I was in it,” Beshear said. “You can’t be doing the things that put your experience at risk. Our college kids shouldn’t be faced with that, but we didn’t have to be that level of responsible. Actions now can kill people.”

Move-in day is tomorrow with the first classes scheduled for Aug. 17.

“Actions now can kill people.” As opposed to back in the good ole days when actions…didn’t..kill people?
