The University of Kentucky provided a campus-wide coronavirus update Monday morning, revealing the school has added PCR diagnostic testing for coronavirus to its return to activity protocols.
The football team, the first group to return to campus, was initially only tested for antibodies. Last week 166 football players and staff members underwent diagnostic testing for COVID-19, yielding zero positive tests.
Following the football team, the men’s basketball, volleyball and women’s soccer team were the next wave to return to campus. Antibody testing of 42 student-athletes from that group yielded three positives for past infection. The diagnostic tests of 41 people and 21 staffers also revealed three positive cases. All three were required to quarantine in accordance with CDC and local health department guidelines.
