UK working on adding a Brewers Certification program

country-boy-taps-700x325

Soon, you may be able to major in beer at UK. Legitimately, like in a classroom. According to the Herald Leader’s Janet Patton, UK is working on adding a brewers certification program, which means I really need to go back to college.

On a side note, shoutout to Country Boy Brewing in Lexington. A few of their beers are now on tap here in Nashville and they are delicious.

Yea, Shout out to Country Boy! I spend more money there on shotgun weddings than I do on my real wife!

The Flying Saucer had Shotgun Wedding a few weeks ago when I was there.

They also usually have it at Tenn16 (right next to 5 points pizza), both edley’s, and The Filling Station for growler fills. Taking over!

Shoot! I didn’t realize Cougar Bait was Country Boy–wow I’m dense. They also have Cougar Bait on tap at M.L. Rose on Charlotte, probably Berry Hill too.

Hm…a good reason to go back to college. 🙂

You all need to come to Lex to visit the Country Boy home taproom for some of their specialty beers: Nacho Bait, Shotgun Wedding. the seasonal beer they make with spruce tips which escapes my mind at the moment . . . and tomorrow they’re tapping the first-ever local hard cider!

(And come to visit two of our other fab craft breweries: West Sixth — their lemongrass wheat is awesome! — and Blue Stallion.)

The seasonal spruce beer is called “Schnickelfritz Spruce Ale” and it is delightful. Go drink it now! AND ALL OF THE OTHER ONES SO MUCH BEER OH GOD

West 6th is garbage. I said it. I stand by it.

I don’t know about garbage… but certainly Blue Stallion and to some extent Country Boy are better and I would say more creative.. I think the Craft Beer Scene in Lexington owes a lot to W6th for being the first one to really break out

Compared to? Their IPA is a fine example of that style. Cannot speak for their other varieties.

Heck yes! This is awesome news, and really cool to see two of the things I love most, craft beer and Kentucky sports coming together! Country Boy rocks, here’s our writeup from back in the day! http://www.porchdrinking.com/country-boy-brewing/

Not only does Country Boy do a great job on the beers they are awesome people. If you are ever in Lexington stop by the tap room. Their brews are fantastic and their guest taps are always spot on.
