UK not included in Jalen Lecque’s list of seven

Five-star guard Jalen Lecque cut his list to seven and it didn’t include Kentucky. The Cats haven’t been recruiting Lecque this summer so it doesn’t come as a surprise, but the No. 18 player in the class of 2019 does have an intriguing list.

It’s lacking bluebloods.

The 6-foot-4, 180-pound athletic combo guard is down to Louisville, Texas Tech, TCU, NC State, Oregon, UCLA and Tennessee. Solid programs across the board, and UofL is right there, but for such a talented player it’s strange to see Kentucky, Duke, UNC, Kansas all excluded.

I have no idea what to make of Lecque’s list, but there are a couple schools that will play UK next season, so there’s a possibility Lecque will travel to Rupp Arena.

It’s becoming clear UK’s mainly interested in Cole Anthony, Bryan Antoine and Scottie Lewis as guards in the class of 2019. The Cats already have five-star Texan Tyrese Maxey committed.

You know, there are literally dozens of Top150 H.S. players that UK isn’t recruiting, and therefore likely won’t have UK on their “list”. Why waste time on any of them? If you have any news, relevant info regarding players UK DOES have a mutual interest in, pieces like this can only serve to bump them.

There are numerous reasons why this is relevant. The same as a Zion Williamson post. Maybe you dont follow recruiting as closely as others or perhaps you dont want to stay up to date on our rivals and College Basketball in general. It’s fine if you only want a 100% Kentucky article, but others have interest.

I do in fact keep up with UK recruiting, which is why I know this is a non-story.

Tony: What are a few of the numerous reasons why this is relevant?

I agree with Tony!!! What I can never understand about you NEGATIVE people is why you even read the article? The headline clearly states that UK is not included on Lecque’s list so if you don’t care about that then move on. Some of us do have interest and appreciate the information!!!

That’s the appropriate title for this non-story.

A kid UK isn’t actively recruiting didn’t include UK in his short list? Ok.

He is a top 20 kid…I’d like to keep up with his recruiting. As a college basketball fan, I like to know who is getting talent. I also like to know who is considering UofL bc it is nice to know where our rival stands with recruitment/their new coach. Thanks for the info TJ.

This is a kid who’s been known for a long time on the recruiting trails. The lack of blue bloods is interesting and to me means either he’s not as good as he was once projected to be or something’s up – whether it be the blue bloods don’t want to deal with his people or they don’t think he’ll play college ball either because of potential eligibility issues or desire to turn pro for a year before the draft. Of course, this is just speculation but we’ll see how it plays out.
