Matthew Mitchell and company are laying the groundwork early for one of the nation’s fastest-rising recruits.
On Wednesday, Alexis Hess, a 6-foot guard from Fleetwood, PA, announced on social media that she has received a scholarship offer from the Kentucky Women’s Basketball team.

Despite the fact that Hess just finished up her freshman year at Fleetwood High School, she’s been hauling in offers from a handful of high-profile schools and the ‘Cats are the latest to join the club. Along with UK, Hess has collected offers from Ohio State, Rutgers, Arizona, Pittsburgh, Alabama, UCLA, Michigan State, Illinois, Texas Tech, and Penn State, with plenty of other schools in contact. Ohio State was the first team to offer her back in late May and her recruitment has exploded since then.
Hess isn’t currently ranked by any of the major recruiting services, but that will quickly change as she progresses through the high school ranks. As a freshman, she averaged just under 15 points to go along with five boards per game through 25 outings. Not only was she named a Berks County All-Star, but she also helped lead her team to a Berks II title at just 15 years old. A local media outlet in Berks County has already wondered if Hess is the “most coveted girls recruit” to ever come out of the area. Not bad praise for a rising sophomore.
Check out her skills.
