UK Has Ground To Make Up In Cheick Diallo Race

When “Slice” Rohrssen came over from Pittsburgh, one of the main objectives in his first few months as an assistant at Kentucky was to sway Cheick Diallo, a top 10 New York prospect, to join the Wildcats. Diallo is a 6’9, 218lb. PF and is ranked as the 3rd ranked prospect in the 2015 class by 247Sports. Kentucky had been recruiting Diallo some beforehand but Rohrssen was Diallo’s lead recruiter at Pittsburgh and combining Slice with the prestige of Kentucky has elevated the Wildcats into the race.

However, according to CBS Sports and their sources, Kentucky will have to make up ground on both Kansas and Iowa State to get Diallo to sign on the dotted line. Kentucky, St. John’s, and Pittsburgh are also involved. I would expect that Kansas, Kentucky, and Iowa State will eventually make up Diallo’s final three, and with Coach Cal’s recent track record with long, athletic rim protectors I would think they stand a pretty good chance.

In Slice We Trust.

Trust is earned. In coach “O” I trusted. I will trust in coach Slice once he’s earned it.

I agree. This should be his recruit to deliver.

I can guarantee you that Borzello is wrong in this case, he is the one that said that and he is dead wrong.

Hey, we can’t judge our new asst coach based on a single recruit–no matter whether we get him or not. This is especially true when the coach comes in behind the 8 ball with the kid. We all know that building relationships early on is a major key to recruiting success and Rohrssen didn’t have that luxury at UK. Give him a break!

He has built a great relationship with Diallo. Slice is the whole reason why Pitt led for him shortly. Despite this report UK is in the lead for Diallo because of Slice.
