UK Fans of the Day Want Memorial Day Notes

First and foremost, thank you to all of the men and women who died while serving in the armed forces. They are the reason we celebrate today, the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice defending the United States of America. We lively freely because of them and all of the other servicemen and women who have served or are still serving today. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Our deepest gratitude goes out to you and your families.

Now, a handful of notes for you this afternoon on the website as we attempt to keep the KSR show rolling with absolutely no news on the UK front…

UK baseball is in the NCAA Tournament.

The second-seeded Cats will take on No. 3 Kansas Friday afternoon in the Louisville Regional at 2:00 pm. A win sends UK to a Saturday game with the Louisville/Kent State winner.

Beating the Cards to advance to the Super Regional? Let’s do that.

Kent State knows how to celebrate.

Welcome to the Louisville Regional.

John Calipari’s Memorial Day message…

“We should do this more often, but I want to make sure everyone takes some time today to thank everyone who has served in our country. We can’t thank the brave men and women who have served or are still serving enough for all that they do for our country. Their sacrifices have made this country what it is today — the greatest country in the world.”

God bless America.

Evan Daniels’ gut tells him Thon Maker will jump to the class of 2015.

With several reports coming out that Maker will reclassify,’s Evan Daniels, one of the best in the biz, tweeted that he believes the move will get done.

The 2015 class is already LOADED with big men and Maker will find his name right in the mix with the best of them. He is currently the second-ranked power forward in the 2016 class, third overall behind No. 1 power forward Harry Giles and shooting guard Josh Jackson. He does not have an offer from UK but interest is high.

Dominique Hawkins is back from China.

Hawkins averaged just over nine points per game in nine appearances with Sports Reach overseas.

It’s really lonely in the KSR office today.

I could really go for sunshine and a hot dog right now. Or some news to post. I hope everyone out there is enjoying the three-day weekend and remembers the reason for the holiday.

Happy Memorial Day, everyone.

Wow, a post that doesn’t have an instagram picture of high school kids going to prom. Refreshingly not creepy.

What a moving video. If that doesn’t put a couple tears in your eyes than I don’t know what will. Also, please don’t ever forget that many young kids & spouses will never get to experience this joy, but pain instead. Salute to all those that serve or have served this great country.
