Oh hey there. How are you? You look exhausted. It looks like you got some sun today, too. Me, I’ve been inside all day because blogs don’t run themselves. I spent my Labor Day with the US Open and last night’s Bachelor In Paradise, while casually watching the UK newswire. There’s not much going on today, but let’s do some notes to hit what little there is to hit.
— Mark Stoops met with the media today to discuss Saturday’s win and his upcoming contest with South Carolina. Nick and Kindsey were there and they have some good stuff from the press conference that you’ll find once you scroll on down. I’d just like to add that Stoops said he took an L to Steve Spurrier on the golf course earlier this year. Stoops and Hugh Freeze played Spurrier and Gus Malzahn at the SEC spring meetings, and the Ol’ Ball Coach got him. Time for payback on the football field.
— Stoops also had this to say about Saturday’s road contest in Columbia: “I think it’s very important. I think that’s been well documented: our struggles on the road and SEC opponents. This is going to be another great challenge, and it’s a great opportunity for us. That’s the big thing that we’ll take from it. It’s a great opportunity. We have to worry about ourselves this week and our preparation and go down there with a strong mindset and try to get a victory in a very hostile environment.”
— In basketball news, Athlon Sports ranked Kentucky No. 1 in its annual basketball preview. The magazine will hit shelves tomorrow and you definitely need to pick up. Hopefully it’s the first of many mags to feature the Cats on the cover this season:
— You still have some time to take advantage of Kentucky Branded’s Labor Day Sale. Save 30% of your entire purchase online or in-store today. That includes all of our KSR gear and plenty of other awesome Kentucky stuff. Use promo code BBM30 at checkout on KentuckyBranded.com.
— 247 Sports updated its composite rankings today and Sacha Killeya-Jones saw a slight climb up the list. The UK commit is now ranked No. 26 overall and earned his fifth star. UK target De’Aron Fox moved all the way up to No. 3 overall.
— So we’re all for Virginia Tech tonight, right? Just making sure. #BeatOhioState
— You should play in the UK Alumni Association golf scramble. Jared Lorenzen and I are signed up and ready for a fun day of golf next week at Keene Run Golf Course. We’d love to have you join us and the UK Alumni Association on Tuesday, September 15 to help raise money to support the club’s activities. Those activities include scholarships for Fayette County students attending UK, community service projects, Finals Treats on campus during both spring and fall semesters and other events and to support the university. If you’re interested or signing up to play or becoming a sponsor, visit the scramble’s website here. All of the details can be found on that site.
It’s a really fun time. Where else can you tee off in front of the UK Dance Team?
