UK Basketball Target Brandin Podziemski is a Scoring Machine

Getty Images

While the Kentucky basketball team struggled to score points, one UK recruiting target was going bananas on the basketball court.

Brandin Podziemski, a 6-foot-6 shooting guard from Delafield, Wisconsin, may not be the highest-ranked recruit John Calipari has looked at over the years, but the No. 72 prospect in the 2021 class knows how to get buckets. Tuesday night Podziemski scored a school record 46 points by reportedly knocking down 7-of-8 three pointers (18/23 FG). He also had 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.

Podziemski broke his own school record in his third 40+ point game of the season. He was one point away from a fourth 40-point game last Saturday.

You’ll never believe this , but people compare Podziemski to Tyler Herro. You can’t blame them. He’s a bucket from Wisconsin that plays for Herro’s AAU team. He holds an offer from Kentucky and for a short while it appeared that UK might get a commitment from Podziemski. Things seem to have cooled. Hopefully that is just temporary because Kentucky could certainly use some long-range scorers that can bury game-winners, like the one you’ll see below.

Does he have any interest in the run around the top of the key in circles for 27 seconds offense? If so we could use him.

These idiots are playing in masks?

Cal probably can’t wait to bury him on the bench in favor of more highly”ranked” athletes with considerably less basketball skill.

Are you calling them idiots because they choose to wear a mask?

The masks that don’t work for a virus they have zero risk from with zero documented cases of transmission during a sporting event?

      Yes, Yes I am.

My kid plays HS and club volleyball. Her team is wearing masks while they play because it keeps the whole team from shutting down for quarantine if one player tests positive for COVID. Not sure if AAU basketball is the same. This was a bylaw put in place by the region where she plays. They don’t have to wear them, but risk the team-wide shutdown if one player catches it. Can’t say if science supports it or not – not my line of work, and I am not going to pretend to be an “armchair virologist”.

82% OF Spanish flue deaths came from bacteria infections wearing masks!! Only time I wear the mask is going into a public place then it comes off. The main stream don’t want to tell you that. Cause people continue to wear the same mask without cleaning them and they get infections. The Spanish Flue was mainly bacteria Inections. Hmm population control maybe!

Vader, I suspect you are referring to this NIH study:

      https://www.nih.gov/news-events/news-releases/bacterial-pneumonia-caused-most-deaths-1918-influenza-pandemic

“The majority of deaths during the influenza pandemic of 1918-1919 were not caused by the influenza virus acting alone, report researchers from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the National Institutes of Health. Instead, most victims succumbed to bacterial pneumonia following influenza virus infection. The pneumonia was caused when bacteria that normally inhabit the nose and throat invaded the lungs along a pathway created when the virus destroyed the cells that line the bronchial tubes and lungs.

There also was evidence that the virus destroyed the cells lining the bronchial tubes, including cells with protective hair-like projections, or cilia. This loss made other kinds of cells throughout the entire respiratory tract — including cells deep in the lungs — vulnerable to attack by bacteria that migrated down the newly created pathway from the nose and throat.”

NOWHERE in the study were masks mentioned as a causal factor. BTW, a “flue” is what you open before lighting a fire in your fireplace.

But I will agree with you that it is probably not very healthy (not to mention gross) to keep wearing the same mask over and over without regular washing.

Well I am not buying any hype until I see them play actual D-1 top college talent, BJ was supposed to be an elite scorer, what about Clark.

KSR needs to rethink the hype of our incoming recruits. They feed the fire that we have going this year. Stars and hype are just things that don’t mean a whole lot until they step on the floor in D-1 basketball. Anthony Davis is not walking through that door.

Didn’t Allen average 40/game? Cals only playing him till Clarke comes back. Not a 5* then you better ball, or you’re not playing, those 5* players have shots to miss
