The University of Kentucky’s athletic department has created a new position to enhance the lives of student-athletes. Jason Cummins will be the Executive Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Experience.
The title and department is a bit wordy. Essentially, Cummins will be doing what Freddie Maggard is doing for the football team, except with every UK athlete. The student-athlete experience division will help with internship placement, job applications and community engagement.
You may have heard Cummins’ name before. A frequent speaker after Kentucky football practices, Cummins’ discussions on leadership have drawn praise from Mark Stoops. He also helped orchestrate the annual mission trips to Ethiopia, chronicled below.
