UK announced the largest gift in school history today

A little over one year after receiving the largest gift in school history, the University of Kentucky announced it surpassed last year’s gift with the new largest gift in school history. The gift, a $23 million donation, comes from Tom Lewis of Arizona and his wife, to create an honors college.

Lewis is a Lexington native and a 1971 graduate of UK. His Lewis Honors College will be located across from Willy T. Young Library in a residential hall on campus.

Eli Capilouto said today, “This gift, by a remarkable person and leader so committed to his alma mater and to education, reflects our mission to place the success of students first in everything that we do. Tom Lewis is investing in, and helping enhance, a vision we have to be the finest residential, public research university in America.”

Hey, Tom. Wanna be friends?

hmm… I’m thinking: Red Cross, homeless shelters, food banks, Church run charities for the poor, battered women’s shelters (one in town), funds for the mentally handy cap, big brothers bug sisters, humane society………

No you’re right, an honors college in my name is much better to help those young adults who obviously need more help than anyone listed above…..

Handy Cap? Is that something you’re glad to have when it’s sunny?

I can see why you’d be against an Honors College.

And there is more stratification on UK’s campus…and less of a commitment to bettering the state.

Feel free to pony up your funds for bettering the state. Stratification is required when students possess differing innate levels of ability and motivation.

What?? UL Fans missing the opportunity to tell us looks like next years recruiting class could be the best ever!! Im disappointed, with that kind of money think how many recruits you could entertain with 100$ strippers, might even land a three star out of that.
