Yesterday, John Calipari traveled to Texas to see Tyrese Maxey, his second trip to see the five-star guard in a week. In an interview with Evan Daniels, Maxey said Cal’s visits have definitely made an impression.
“Nobody else has come in twice in one week,” Maxey said. “That’s what he wanted to do . It shows his interest in me as a player and that’s something to think about.”
Maxey is currently part of the 2019 class, but Calipari has pitched him on reclassifying to 2018, meaning he could be a Wildcat this fall. Maxey told Daniels it’s still up in the air as to whether or not that happens. A good student, Maxey said he’s in good shape with his credits, but isn’t in a rush to decide whether or not to skip his senior year. He did say he may narrow his list after the first evaluation period, which takes place this weekend in Texas. I think it’s safe to say Kentucky will make the cut.
