Tyler Ulis and Devin Booker talk often, almost every day, and the potential of playing together at Kentucky has been and continues to be discussed. Ben Roberts of the Herald-Leader recently caught up with Coach Cal’s newest commitment to talk about his friendship with Booker, a highly sought after two-guard in the 2014 class.
“Devin’s a shooter and I like to drive and kick,” Ulis said of his good friend. “When we first played with each other, he got a lot of buckets and I got a lot of assists. So we just clicked ever since.”
As Matt mentioned in his recruiting notes earlier today, UK likes its position with Booker coming off his visit to the alumni game and Booker’s friendship with Ulis, and Ulis’ ability to find open shooters, only helps the Wildcats’ chances. Booker still plans to take other visits, though, so it’ll be some time before we find out if a Ulis-Booker backcourt will ever come to fruition in Lexington.
Booker isn’t the only top 2014 recruit Ulis has recruited to UK recently; Ulis told Roberts he worked on Jahlil Oakfor during their visit and he plans to reach out to guys like Stanley Johnson.
Those are two more big time players who like the idea of a point guard that won’t hesitate to kick the rock.
