The 2021 Kentucky Soccer ‘Cats are off to a good start ahead of the fresh season.

Earlier on Wednesday, it was announced by Conference-USA that two members of the UK Soccer Team, midfielder Marcel Meinzer and goalkeeper Enrique Facusse, have been tabbed to the C-USA Men’s Soccer Preseason Team. In addition, Kentucky was tabbed to finish second in the conference behind reigning conference champion, Marshall.

Both Meinzer and Facusse were named to the 2019 C-USA second team before solid performances during the shortened 2020 season that saw Kentucky play just six games, but finish with a No. 3 ranking and a five-match win streak. Meinzer, a native of Germany, started five of six matches a season ago while Facusse, a native of Honduras, started three games for the ‘Cats in 2020.
