Trouble for the Yum! Center?

TheVilleVoice.com wonders if there could be a semi-emergency status for the Yum! Center/University of Louisville deal. The governor recently signed an executive order approving the hire of eight law firms by UofL, which suggests something is going down and it’s going down soon. The contract was not put out for bid to other firms.

The Voice can’t confirm but is hearing┬áthe IRS and SEC are in Louisville poking around the Louisville Arena Authority and the University of Louisville Athletic Association.

Uh oh.

Did somebody important find a reason ($) to care about the blatant theft of a deal UL made for itself, working both sides?

THANK GOD! UL has been STEALING money from the YUM center for 3 years now. I can only hope good comes of this and they have to redo the lease agreement. UL essentially negotiated with themselves. This is the MAIN REASON why UL has one of the most profitable Athletic Departments. Sure alcohol sales are great, but it pales in comparison to reaming they are giving the YUM center.

Call me when a real news organization reports something. Some blog I’ve never heard of quoting their “sources” seems fishy. But we all know KSR will post anything that might look bad for UL. So carry on as usual.

So you suppose The Ville Voice manufactured the executive order? It is within reason to consider that up to 600K in legal fees may be for a purpose other than the Yum! Center contracts but I would love for YOU to provide us with a more likely target. Thanks, in advance of your edifying response.

UL won’t be in any trouble in this dirty deal. They didn’t do anything illegal in negotiating an unreal lease deal. It is the arena authority that looks like the target of the probe. However, the arena authority is full of cardinal backers and friends. That is the reason that UL got such a sweet heart deal on the Yum lease. It was never a real arms length transaction.

I don’t think there is much chance of the dirty birds losing their roost but I seem to recall UK having an agreement with Freedom Hall so that wouldn’t be an option. Maybe they can play at the Y since their coach eats there often.

Ummmm…Who Cares….the taxpayers of Kentucky and the fine citizens of Louisville do. There is SOMETHING going on…..(seems fishy…lol) the governor has signed off on it….that’s fishy to you?
KSR is only reporting what they know so far but there wouldn’t even be a story if you/we were “Doing Things the Right Way”…..don’t know where I’ve heard that before….oh now I remember….your fans.
KSR doesn’t have to try to make you look bad they just give you the rope and what you do with it is your business. When more of this story comes out I would be more than happy to call you….don’t forget to check my post under here as the story continues…you can continue to CARRY ON as usual with head buried in the sand, spin it how you want, and live in your UL fantasy world.

This is what the Governor, and Mayor Gray, think Lexington should copy? It seems politicians love to spend money that is not theirs, no matter who is left paying for it. Is Jim Host in the witiness protection program? I have not seen him in years.
