Travonte Valentine will visit Kentucky, not Alabama

Travonte Valentine is going through with what he hinted at earlier today: he canceled his official visit to Alabama on January 24 and will visit Kentucky instead. The four-star defensive tackle, currently committed to Miami, the Florida one, has become close to Drew Barker, Matt Elam and Marcelys Jones this week in San Antonio and he’s interested in all the buzz around Kentucky. Valentine and his new friends spoke to the UK coaching staff Wednesday and they pitched the idea of the group being a package deal to UK.

Nick Saban must really, really hate Mark Stoops right now. Not only he is on the Oklahoma sideline, but he has All-American defensive tackles canceling official visits to Tuscaloosa.

First of all, this kid will make a Hugh difference for # BBN. I think he could play right away at UK.

I’m sure someone will figure out a way to put a negative spin on this, but I happen to think it’s a massive change of tone in the program that allows us to even be considered by these highly rated players. Whether we get them or not, how is that a bad thing?

Luv the great vibes for Stoops & Co. But did anyone else notice he’s got a Miami mouthguard. When he signs the dotted line, we can rejoice. Hopefully Barker can turn him…

Can’t believe how exciting it is to even discuss football recruiting. I noticed rumors going around Damien Harris de committing to Michigan, maybe stoops can get to work on him to start of next years class.

Way to go Stoops and Company. This team will get there with players like this. Stoops is a good coach and knows how to get it done. Last year was a clown show because of the poor personnel and lack of fight left in the existing players. With Barker there beginning in the Spring semester he will be ready to play better football than the rest of the QB on the roster. No offense to those guys but the game is over for them. Smith is done physically, JW has poor accuracy, and I have no idea what is wrong with PT. If PT couldn’t win the job from that bunch then enough said. Go get em Drew, bring em to the bluegrass.

You gotta laugh as Bama lost because of poor quarterback play. We Cat fans know all about that.

It certainly feels good to be competing with the big boys; flipping players from the likes of teams like USC, U Miami, OSU , Nebraska and the like. Make fun of us because we are getting excited, if you like, and make excuses like ‘that player wasn’t any good anyway’. We don’t care what you think. It’s nice to have some excitement related to UK football recruiting. I’m so glad Mark Stoops saw UK’s potential as a ‘diamond in the rough’. Things we had going for us that others didn’t take advantage of: 1) being part of the best, by far, football conference, 2) recruiting the hotbed of the state of Ohio very hard, 3) offering early playing time and in SEC, 4) getting best in-state talent (Barker, Timmons, Hatcher, Middleton, (Elam) and making them some of our best recruiters. Thanks for seeing the potential in UK, Mark. I love hearing that Barker and possibly Elam and possibly Jones are all working together to recruit Trevonte Valentine. Jump on the wave guys!
