Top UK target goes for 48

One of Kentucky’s top 2015 targets–Marietta (Ga.) Wheeler 5-star small forward Jaylen Brown–dropped 48 points at the adidas Guantlet event in an 84-74 win in Indianapolis Friday night.

Brown (6-7, 207), who is rated as the No. 10 overall prospect in the 2015 class by the 247Sports Composite, which takes into account rankings across various outlets, made 15 of 22 shots including 6 of 10 three-pointers.

UK assistant Kenny Payne held an Easter Sunday in-home visit with Brown last month, which he called “humbling” and John Calipari subsequently offered him a scholarship shortly thereafter.

After his performance Friday night, Brown spoke with 247Sports about his interest in Kentucky, calling it a “big name program.”

So is he the southern version of Stanley Johnson for this years class? I think they even look similar.

Unfortunately he will not be here. Read up on him. I would love to land Newman, Stone and this kid. Not sure he will want to play 2nd 3rd or 4th fiddle. He will land in state of Carolina, Kansas, or Ga.

The kid is as athletic as anyone I’ve seen in a while. Seems like his skill continues to get better as well. Should be top 5 by this time next year.
