Top LB says Kentucky is on the rise and he’s excited

Darrin Kirkland

@_KIRKjunior

Four-star linebacker Darrin Kirkland visited UK’s campus this past weekend, and in an interview with Rivals’ Josh Helmholdt, said he sees a lot of opportunity in Lexington. Kirkland, 6’2″, 228 lbs, is considered the 5th best inside linebacker and 194th player overall in the 2015 class by 247 Sports Composite. He’s got the Cats in his top ten, and said that when he told them he and his father were visiting, the staff “designed a whole day” around him.

“I just wanted to find out what is so great about it and I walked away learning that they are a program well on the rise,” Kirkland said. “I have a great opportunity down there and I’m really excited about it. I was very glad I put them in the top 10.”

The rest of Kirkland’s top ten? Ole Miss, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia Tech, and Wisconsin. The Indianapolis native’s Crystal Ball sits at 56% Michigan, 24% Tennessee, 16% Penn State, and 4% Ohio State. But, as we’ve learned, don’t count out Stoops just yet.

Check out Helmholdt’s article for more quotes and insight into Darrin’s visit.

    Definitely passes the look test. If football doesn’t work out for him for whatever reason, he could be one of those mannequins in Dick’s Sporting Goods.

    Just think of the lineback core we could have if we landed this guy and our current commitments.

    Everyone knows that UK, not necessarily the football team, is well known for players with great hair. Come be a part of that.

    This young man would be a great addition to Kentucky football with the chance of immediate action and contributions to our football team. He would most definitely be another piece of the puzzle which is looking almost complete at this time. Middle Linebacker being an issue at this time, his commitment would help the future look a lot brighter and our defense would look solid. Come on Darrin join the BBN and help us win an SEC championship !!!!
