On Easter Sunday, God smiled on Notre Dame.

Trailing by 13 at half, the Fighting Irish climbed back to tie Mississippi State in the fourth quarter of the Women’s National Championship Game.  Notre Dame’s run did not last.  Down five with a minute to go, all hope was seemingly lost.  Not so fast.

The Fighting Irish finished the game on an 8-0 run, completed by Arike Ogunbowale’s unbelievable game-winning prayer from the corner.

The best version:

Say what you will about the officials, it’s one of the most incredible shots in any NCAA Tournament ever, AND it was not Ogunbowale’s first.  She did it against UConn too.

Nova vs. Michigan

The men’s National Championship is set to tip-off tonight at 9:20 on TBS.  Villanova, the one-seeded 6.5-point favorites, is playing for their second National Title in three years.  Michigan has lost three consecutive title game appearances since they cut the nets in 1989.

That preview of tonight’s game will not suffice.  That’s why you should listen to today’s edition of The Aaron Torres Sports Podcast, dropping this afternoon around lunchtime.  Don’t miss it.

Bat Cats Avoid Sweep

Kentucky salvaged a rough weekend by ending on a high note with a 5-2 win at Alabama.  The Cats return to The Cliff to face Louisville tomorrow night prior to a weekend series with South Carolina.

KSR is in Frankfort

The crew is at our state’s capital for two exciting hours of radio.  Don’t miss it.

Hah, God did not smile on ND; the refs did. They got the ball back with the score tied in the waning seconds when they knocked a MSU player down and jarred the ball loose…no foul was called. The refs then called he 5th foul on the MSU center. Even if the corner shot had not fallen, MSU wouldn’t have a chance in OT without their best player.

You are 100% right RG, I watched with my dad and we both saw the same thing. It was obvious the refs and the announcers wanted ND to win that game. I was officiated much like a Kentucky game, foul every trip down on the ND end, few called on the MS State end.

Yep, in the 16-1 ND run to get back in the game, I believe 8 points were on buckets; the rest were on FT’s.

Yeah that’s when I knew they were in trouble. Teaira McCowan was fouled almost every time she got the ball and most of the time no foul was called.
