University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

Today On KSR: The Monday Morning After

Mondays are much easier coming off a Kentucky football win like the one we witnessed on Saturday. Big Blue Nation is still riding high after seeing its Cats run right over a very good Mississippi State team to go to 4-0, and we can now start dreaming big dreams about this team’s potential for the season.

So put your feet on your office desk, tell your boss you’re not in the mood for any crap today, and keep smiling because it’s a great time to be a Wildcat.

Mark Stoops’ Monday press conference should be fun.

It’s Monday, which means Mark Stoops will chat with the media at noon today in his weekly Monday press conference. The subject matter will of course be Kentucky’s big win over Mississippi State and the challenge ahead in South Carolina to potentially go 5-0.

We’ll have the live stream right here on Kentucky-Sports-Radio-dot-com, so check back during your lunch break to hear Stoops’ comments.

Stoops’ Monday press conference was moved to Tuesday. You can still hear his call-in show tonight.

Kentucky is ranked No. 17 in the country.

Kentucky is ranked for the first time since 2007 after sliding into the Top 25 on Sunday. The Cats are ranked No. 17 in both of the polls.

Hey, look, UK is in The New York Post!

When you have two outright wins as heavy underdogs in your only two conference games, you earn some love in The New York Post. Kentucky is part of a new story called “Two basketball schools are taking college football by storm,” along with Syracuse. That’s pretty cool, right?

Kash Daniel’s interview after the game was amazing.

If you haven’t seen Kash Daniel eating a chicken sandwich while talking about Kylin Hill, Lee Corso and the Mississippi State line, drop what you’re doing right now and hit play. It’s so good.

The Cats are the underdog again.

Despite the new ranking and the two upset wins against ranked teams on the resume, Kentucky will still play the underdog role in its next game. South Carolina opened up as a two-point favorite when the line was released Sunday afternoon. It has already been bet down a point in most places. No love from the desert.

The Big Blue Madness Campout is this week.

Reminder: At the request of campus public safety officials, fans wishing to line up ahead of time at Memorial Coliseum for ticket distribution are asked to do so no earlier than 5 a.m. on Wednesday. The tickets will be distributed Friday at 10 p.m.

Tiger’s all the way back.

What a fun weekend in sports.

Thank goodness the NY Post didn’t mention Duke who is also undefeated I believe albeit in a soft ACC this year.

Unless Kentucky wins a National Championship, there is no scenario in which Stoops should get more money. Kentucky has already paid the man far more than he is worth based on knee-jerk reactions to some wins that turned out to be mediocre at best.

Stoops really only has two really good games to point to during his time at UK: Beating Louisville in 16-17 and the bowl loss to a good Northwestern team that could have easily been a win.

He’s had time to get his players and system in place. Honestly I could care less about another 6-6 season with a crappy bowl game. He’s paid like a top 20 coach yet we aren’t a ranked team. Blew the Florida game last year and almost lost to UT who was HORRIBLE! We have some talent on the roster especially if a QB will step up. Simply put….he needs to win more this year! Why pay a coach that much to be an AVERAGE team. Talent is there…question is can the coaches get it out of them and results on the field?

5 wins MAX… The only saving grace for 6 wins will be another “Lamar fumble to lose the game” scenario. The more likely scenario is that Stoops will poop the bed in 1-2 games that we “should have” won (again) and we finish with 4. Move him along and bring in a coach that has more qualifications than a “last name”.

Mississippi State beat the brakes off us last year, and they’re probably going to be better this year. We won’t be favored in that game by a long shot, and it certainly won’t be “easy” if we do find a way to win.

I think we find a way to win 6-7 games, but I don’t think Mississippi State will be one of them.

This team has SEC talent; at some positions, but not top tier SEC talent across the board. It’s also not SEC deep. We still have middle of the pack SEC talent overall. This is the SEC MAN! Until this is corrected, if ever, it’s where we’ll stay.
I expect this team to beat who they should, lose to GA and A&M for certain, and the rest of the games to be toss ups. All in all I think 7 wins would be a good year, 8 would be REEEEAALY good! And no, he doesn’t need a raise. If he wants more, let him leave.

I am hoping for a breakthrough season for Stoops, but, this will be a very difficult year to do so.
Bottom line, if the defense can’t stop the other team, then the offense has to score a lot to have a chance. With our QB situation currently, I am not sure that will be the case.

I keep hearing how our talent is better, I just don’t see it, here are the recruiting rankings in the SEC while Stoops has been coach
    2019 11 with 1 Four Star
    2018 11 with 3 Four Stars
    2017 10 with 4 Four Stars
    2016 10 with 1 Five Star 4 Four Stars
    2015 13 with 2 Four Stars
    2014 9 with 10 Four Stars
    2013 13 with 3 Four Stars
How can we compete with recruiting like this? Stoops best year was 2014. He has only recruited 1 Five Star player and minimal 4 Stars. We keep hearing about all of these great classes but when you actually look at them they are below average in the SEC.

BTI said, “9 wins – Stoops looking at either a nice raise or some other bigger jobs.”

This is the typical hyperbole… but is to be expected from the BTI amateur hour.

If he wins 9 games then it means he finally was better than 4-4 in the SEC (and would likely be just 5-3).

The UK Schedule is so padded with creampuff that 9 wins means Stoops finally doing the job he’s paid to do:

    1. Have a winning program – regular season (qualify for bowls).
    2. Have a winning program – SEC.
    3. Put fans in the stands to pay for it.

    Prediction: 7-5 (3-5)
    W – vs Cent Michigan
    L – @ Florida
    W – vs Murray State
    L – vs Miss St (Pre-season rank 24)
    L – vs South Carolina (Pre-season rank 23)

MO is no guaranteed win. Their high flying offense will roll up points on our secondary which is always weak. I think MO beats us by 21.

BONUS CONTENT: LOUISVILLE (2-2, 5th in ACC) TROLLS WEIGH IN!

The only people that say they don’t care about Stars are fans of teams that don’t have much talent. The truth is that stars matter. All the NCAA statistics show it. ESPN has done several articles on it. If you’re not at the top of the recruiting rankings, you’re not playing for championships.

Incredible work. Laughable for sure, but incredible. I can’t speak for the others, but I do know a lot of work was put into cutting and pasting. That had to be a laborious task sitting downstairs in your parents basement.

I am hoping for a breakthrough season for Stoops, but, this will be a very difficult year to do so.
Bottom line, if the defense can’t stop the other team, then the offense has to score a lot to have a chance. With our QB situation currently, I am not sure that will be the case.

The risk you run trying to expose others, is exposing yourself.

First, this looks like something I have posted. However I believe it is only part of what I posted. The July date seems to be incorrect, as I went through all the pages filed under football from two days prior, up to July 24. This was nowhere to be found. No biggie, I am sure it is somewhere, and I believe there was more to it as well. I will absolutely take credit for that. Got me, LOL. You were the only one that read the post it seems. I could not find it, but I trust you.

Funny thing, on the 25th, Eddie Gran was quoted as saying the same thing, essentially having no clue as who was the front runner for QB, seemingly casting doubts on the abilities of that which were there, based on his point of view as the OC. Why didn’t you quote him? (bigger authority than me.)

And Stoops also made comments that he expected much more out of the Defense than in years prior, posted I think, a couple of days prior to the 24th. Given the history of our defense, those comments did not quell the concern. (Did not think of quoting that either, did you?)

Can you say “out of context”? Yes you can…..ROTFLMAO.

But one thing I did not see, was a meaningful comment from you regarding anything about predictions, concerns or otherwise. To have 20/20 vision like yours is not really that impressive. In fact, I have never seen anything of value from you, only snarky remarks, such as those of an insecure child.

You and your alter egos, out there, had to be deep in the middle of the sibling Christmas tree that received no attention, or you would not be begging for it now. Tragic, yet hilarious, so very hilarious.

Oh, and just one more thing, the KSR poll for the opinion of the readers as to how many games this team will win, I selected ten (10) as my number. It was 2% of those that had participated. That was on the 24th of July, check it out. That, I know, is there.

I am curious though, how many did you think we would win? Or were you too busy trolling others to offer your opinion? (Not likely, since you seldom have a thought on your own.)

UK is having a fabulous start or the season, and are playing very well. Hope you are enjoying it as much as I am, having been a fan for 50 years and a season ticket holder as well, this is such a great feeling.

These other schools that not doing very well and their coaches are on the hot seat UK needs to wrap up this coaching staff now so that they are well taken care of, like the basketball staff not saying as much, but they should give them all something more to want to stay here
