The only high school sport currently open for business across the Commonwealth is golf. We’ll find out if the rest of the fall sports can officially begin practice next week when the KHSAA Board of Control meets this morning.
Will high school football get the green light? Tensions have risen across the board in anticipation of this meeting. JCPS superintendent Marty Pollio stated at a school board meeting earlier this week that he would prefer moving fall sports to the spring, but officials will wait until after today’s meeting to make a determination on how Louisville public schools will proceed.
On the other side of the argument, coaches at some of the state’s most prominent schools have spoken out, most notably Male’s Chris Wolfe, to urge decision makers to let kids play this fall. The Kentucky Football Coaches Association released the following data to provide evidence that playing KHSAA football is safe and prevents players from seeking alternatives elsewhere outside of the state.
We’ll stream the meeting in its entirety, beginning at 10:30 am, right here on Kentucky Sports Radio.
A Wild Night for Thom Brennaman
Baseball legend Marty Brenneman passed the baton to his son following the 2019 season. A month into his gig as the Reds’ television play-by-play broadcaster, Thom Brennaman was caught saying a homophobic slur on a hot mic during a doubleheader against the Kansas City Royals. For minutes Brennaman continued broadcasting as normal, unaware his inappropriate statement was shared over the air. Eventually, producers caught on and pulled the plug on Brennaman. He was given the opportunity to apologize before signing off, an apology that was interrupted by a play on the field.

Brennaman has been suspended indefinitely. Will he ever return to the booth?

The Worst Attractions in Each State
Maybe Noah’s Ark is lame, but I refuse to hear any Holiday World blasphemy.
