Kentucky Sports Radio

University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

Today on KSR: The Big Blue Nation Invades Germany

Not one, but two Kentucky Wildcats are heading across the pond.

On Monday Derek Willis and Reid Travis signed to play basketball professionally next season in the Bundesliga. Willis will play for Ratiopharm Ulm and Travis will suit up for Medi Bayreuth in the same league Darius Miller once conquered before triumphantly returning stateside to make a couple million dollars in the NBA. If he could do it, so can they.

It’s not the only thing happening around the Big Blue Nation, although, it’s slim pickins a week before the UK football team begins practice.

NFL Training Camps are Underway

Football officially begins across America this week as players around the country report to NFL training camps. Kentucky’s rookies are some of the first to dive into the action. Yesterday Josh Allen removed his Instagram account to make sure he’s completely prepared. You’ll slowly start hearing updates on players later this week. Here’s when all 22 of the former Wildcats will be reporting to camp.

Terry Wilson: Not Too Shabby

Some people are not too bullish on Terry Wilson entering his second season as Kentucky’s starter. They’ll point to his turnovers, while omitting his accuracy — just the second-best passing completion percentage in school history, no big deal. Compared to the rest of his peers, he had an exceptional first year under center.

Tim Duncan Returns to the Spurs

The greatest to ever wear a Spurs uniform is returning to the bench in San Antonio. After playing for Gregg Popovich for 19 years, now he’ll be coaching alongside the NBA great. Hopefully, Duncan brings back his excellent sense of style.

Stone Cold: Back

The Texas Rattlesnake returned to WWE Raw Monday night to drink cold beers — Stone Cold IPAs, as a matter of fact — and say cheers to Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair. The Raw Reunion nostalgia really hit home at the KSR compound when Kelly Kelly took the 24/7 belt.

Tom Hanks as Mr. Rogers

We’ve known for quite some time that Tom Hanks would play the role of Mr. Rogers for an upcoming feature film. Yesterday the trailer was released for “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood,” and I gotta say, it looks bizarre. Hanks is great, don’t get me wrong, but he can’t be Mr. Rogers. I saw Mr. Rogers on TV too much to see a different version of him. Even so, I’ll still watch Hanks’ rendition and probably love every single second.

The Best of Internet from Monday

Logan Paul is quite a piece of work. Exhibit A, the awkward silence when he reveals he’s spending more than he makes:

The KSR Tour Continues in Somerset

After tipping off the week at Woodson Bend, the crew is staying in Southern Kentucky. Today you’ll find them at Associates in Eye Care right off US-27 in Somerset. They aren’t straying too far away from Lake Cumberland this week.

7/24 – Monticello @ Conley Bottom Resort
7/25 – Campbellsville @ Mr. Gatti’s Pizza
7/26 – Lexington @ Lexington Legends

“They’ll point to his turnovers, while omitting his accuracy — just the second-best passing completion percentage in school history, no big deal.”

KSR writers point to his accuracy, while omitting his passing attempts – just the lowest in the SEC and top 5 lowest in division 1 football. Kind of a big deal.

That was going to be my point. This year he will have to pass a lot more, not because of not having snell but because we will have to put up points to win. Hope he’s successful, but last year Matt Jones could have set records in passing with 8 men in the box every play

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, Matt Jones would trip over his own feet as soon as the ball was snapped lol.

Doing simple stats research on ESPN, look at his splits. Tells the whole tale. Terry Wilson’s passing percentages were buoyed almost completely on 1st & 2nd down throws with < 6 yards to go. When teams were EXPECTING Benny to get the ball. In definite passing situations, his percentages dive into the 50s. Which means, when he had to make a play, he only made it half the time…

Nick, don’t accuse others of cherry picking stats, when you yourself cherry picked stats. I don’t even do this for a living. I hope Terry proves me completely wrong this year. But don’t make it seem like he passed all eye tests last year.

And when I say, he ‘made a play’ I mean, he threw a completion. He only averaged 7.5 yards on those completions… which means, we were punting next play.

He has to be very good this year. This can’t happen.

I just don’t understand this attitude. Why would an actor/musician/athlete’s political views have anything to do with whether or not you enjoy their performance in their chosen field? Is this where we are now? If you have a heart attack and the ER physician has a Bernie Sanders pin on, are you going to refuse treatment because he doesn’t align himself with your politics? Lol, guess you guys don’t watch many movies, go to concerts or attend many sporting events.

      “Dink and Dunk”

Yeah. I know… I feel like I’ve presented my case for not buying TW until we see TW pretty well. The guy managed games and didn’t lose. Ok. But the guy sans 1 game really didn’t impress. At all. There’s something that can be said for not losing… But it doesn’t mean he’s a stud. As Nick often suggests.

646 is right except Matt tripping over his own feet is best case scenario.

Yep, it is true that NOBODY can be Mr. Rogers, but Tom Hanks might be about as close as you can get.

I watch liberal actors, except the ones who mock me for my religion and gun support and the love of life for all people, especially the most vulnerable
