Today marks one week since we lost our dear friend Jared Lorenzen, and I’ll be honest, it still doesn’t feel real; however, we must start to say goodbye.
This afternoon, a celebration of Jared’s life will be held at St. Pius X Church in Edgewood, Kentucky from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. It will be followed by a burial service at the church. Many members of the KSR family, the Kentucky Football family, Jared’s family, friends, and former teammates will be in attendance. That’s only the beginning of our tributes to the Kentucky Football legend. Tomorrow, Matt, Ryan, Drew, and Shannon will host the radio show live from Fort Thomas Highlands, Jared’s old stomping grounds, to kick off the start of the Jared Lorenzen Memorial Fund, our college fund for his two children, Taylar and Tayden.
On Friday, the celebration will move to KSBar and Grille, where we’ll be showing Jared’s best games on loop and donating 22% of our sales to the fund. We’ll have more details on how you can donate to the fund tomorrow, but for now, say a little something for his friends and family on what is going to be a very difficult day.
Last night, the folks at Throwboy Tees, Jared’s t-shirt company, announced they’ve raised over $50,000 for Jared’s family, and will continue to donate 100% of sales during the month of July:

Jared’s giving me the sign to wrap this mushy stuff up and get to UK Sports, so here’s what else is happening today.
The Peach Jam begins
Today, the nation’s top high school basketball players will converge on North Augusta for the Peach Jam, the finale of the Nike EYBL circuit. Games start this evening around 5 p.m., so our own Jack Pilgrim is on the road to South Carolina and will check in this afternoon to brief you on who to watch, both on the courts and at the North Augusta Hooters.
Throughout the week, Jack will be uploading video interviews with Kentucky’s top targets to our KSR Digital account on YouTube, which gives me an excuse to remind you to subscribe.
NBA Summer League rolls on
Tyler Herro was the star of yesterday’s Summer League action, turning in 25 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and a steal in Miami’s 96-92 win over Orlando. Right now, Herro ranks 11th in scoring in the Vegas league, averaging 21.3 points per game, the most of any former Cat. If you missed it, here are his highlights:
Six Cats will be in action today (all times ET):
- 5:00 PM: Hornets (PJ Washington – not playing) vs. Bulls (Mychal Mulder), NBATV
- 7:00 PM: Timberwolves vs. Heat (Tyler Herro), NBATV
- 9:00 PM: Spurs (Keldon Johnson) vs. Suns (Derek Willis), NBATV

Tonight is Marvel Trivia at KSBar
Avengers, assemble! Tonight is Marvel Trivia Night at KSBar, led by the fantastic Daniel Dunston, Noah Day, and Brent Wainscott. If you think you know the Marvel Comic Universe better than anyone, get on down to KSBar to prove it. You’ll probably have a chance to win since my husband’s 2 Guys, 1 Girl Santa podcast crew can’t make the trip from Nashville.
KSR Dog of the Day
The only thing I love more than a dog is a rescue dog, and if you haven’t seen this clip that Rex Chapman shared earlier this week, grab the tissues.
A journalist went to cover a story about a shelter for abandoned dogs. This good boy clung to the writer upon leaving. Dude adopted him and took him home.
Dogs, bruh…??? pic.twitter.com/05JjQzL2vZ
